  1. Anyone know how I can get a SC430 2002 black spoiler? It'll be great if it's pre-painted with the OEM black paint. The one I have has been cracked due to an accident years ago. I'd really like to have it replaced. I've been able to remove it. Thanks for any pointers! :)
  2. I would really appreciate the pictures as well if you have them richard_ishikawa@yahoo.com Thanks, -Rich
  3. is it flanged? can you attach a picture? never seen inside the engine bay of a 430. or at least close enough to get a glimpse of the 02s Finally I got it out!! last night I put few WD-40 spray and wait 10 minutes then turned it backwards 1/4 turn and then towards and then backwards and... repeated this about another 10 minutes, then it was free totally. It's not flanged. it's normal 4-wire sensor. I took 3 pictures, left O2 position, right O2 position and closed look of removed sensor, but can't attach them, seem the large size. The old one has open heater circuit. the new one (Walker) is meamured 16 Ohm on heater. hey im a new member here, i have a 02 sc430 as well, and my check engine light is on. I went to my buddys shop today to get it checked out with the OBD machine and it read p0155 "O2 sensor heater circuit bank 2, sensor 1." I'm assuming this sensor is on the passenger side/ sensor BEFORE the cat. I have an idea of where the sensor is, but im not 100%. Could you send me the pics you took of the sensors via email please? That would be so cool of you. My email is mnguy1@brockport.edu thanks for the help!
  4. Hi folks, Anyone know what the part number is for a defective sensor located at bank 1 sensor 1 (near the manifold/exhaust on the driver's side)? I'm seeing a P0135 error code on the testing device. The Lexus parts department won't tell me what part number it is because they claim their database might be incorrect. It's 10 digits and starts with a 89___ -_____. Also, they discourage using WD40 to remove the sensor as they claim it could cause the new O2 sensor to fail WD40 gets on it. Lexus has not been helpful . They are asking $220 to just identify the code error and another $600 to replace the sensor. So, I've decided to take care of it myself. Thanks! -Rich
  5. Have both problems with my 2002 radio. It's a known issue with the amp, which Lexus will replace if the car is under warrantee. The blarring only happens when I use the handlebar volume control to adjust the volume. On occasion it'll just blast at the top volume. It's a real ear popper when it happens.
  6. My engine warning light is on, and turns out one of the oxygen sensors need replacing according to my dealer. Lexus dealer is asking $600 for the replacement. There are two sensors, and they recommend replacing both for $1000 at a savings of $200 as they think the second sensor will likely need replacing at some point. So, questions I have: 1) Can this be done by a regular mechanic? How much would it cost to do it? I live in the Bay Area, so if you know someone that has done it before, the info would be greatly appreciated. 2) Can this be done by the owner? If so, now long will it take and what tools are needed? 3) Can this engine alert be ignored? How long can I drive the car with this issue before it becomes a problem. Really would appreciate any insight and suggestions. Many thanks in advance. -Rich
  7. I'd like one too for my 2002 SC430. richard_ishikawa@yahoo.com
  8. Help, sometimes when I start the car and select the radio control buttons on my steering wheel, it results in the radio audio blasting at it's highest volume. It's quite a shock and a real awakening, and I have to fumble with the radio control to turn it down. I think whenever that happens, I'm probably losing some of my hearing. Anyone experience the same? Know what I can do about it? I can't seem to recreate it, and it happens roughly once a month. Thanks for any advice. :cries: :o -Rich
  9. Hey, after getting my RPM meter replaced on my 02 SC430, there's lots of creaks behind the speedometer. Unfortunately, my car is out of warantee, otherwise, I'd get the dealer to fix it. Anyone have the same problem and know of a fix? Seems like the colder weather causes it to creak whenever I hit a bump on the road. Many thanks, -Rich
  10. Hi Rich: I did buy the mast assembly, but when I disconnected the antenna, the plastic coil part is separated from the antenna. Don't I need to retrieve the coiled plastic from the motor first? If the plastic gear coil is broken, you will need to access the motor to remove the broken portion before installing a new mast. Here is a link to the instructions: http://www.antennamastsrus.com/instructions.htm The original question still remains, How do you access the motor?? PS I found the replacement mast on E-bay for about $18 but haven't installed it yet Can anyone offer any advise about removing and replacing the trunk panels to access the motor????? Thanks, but yes, the original question, how do you access the motor???
  11. I did buy a mast assembly from the Lexus dealer at $80. They want $150 to install it and they claim you need to open the motor to install it. Looks like you're approach is different. How do you take out the tubular mast and the notched riser? Do you ever need to get to the antenna motor, or do only need to unscrew the outer notched ring to pull out the broken mast and replace it with the new one without taking the trunk apart?? Many thanks, -Rich
  12. Does the Blue tooth work on a 2002 SC430? Just wondering if I might try this on my car.
  13. My antenna appears to be broken too. Any insight to repair and replace the antenna motor will be appreciated! Thanks, -Rich
  14. I'm also looking for the same for my Lexus SC430. Have you been able to find a forward facing baby car seat? Thanks, -Rich We ended up using the one we had because there wasn't anything smaller we could find. The only problem is that, even without the baby being in the seat, the seat makes the passenger sit very upright and cannot put the seat all the way back. This doen't work very well when I am the passenger because I am over 6 feet tall. The great thing about having my son in the car in his car seat is that I can reach right over to him when I am driving. He seems like he is sitting directly beside me. He really enjoys that and riding around with the top down. It is not the best use for my wife and I, but I guess that's not really what the car was made for. It is great that they did put the latches on the seats for the car seat straps to hook to. What car seat model are you using? Thanks, -Rich
