Get the GTE version of it. Its a little more powerful and just as reliable. Gas mileage will not be your best friend, but having a 4 door Supra is fun. The longblock goes for a descent and affordable price as well. The swap itself is not difficult to do. You will NOT need a new transmission since the GE and GTE both share the same bolt pattern around the bell housing. Only thing is though, the GE transmissions hold up to 400 horse power before anything internal has to be done. While you have the motor out, might as well change the torque converter.

Door lock actuator. Seems to be a feature with 98-05 GS. Its not a bad DIY. Theres a write up for it on this site or on club-lexus.

With all due respect it is not really a secret that Lexus GS cars are not exactly "mileage machines." No matter if new or old, I6 or V8, good tune or bad tune - they all get pretty sucky fuel economy. You can go 900 on 60 in a Volkswagen Golf TDI -- maybe you bought yourself the wrong car?
x2 with you on that To the original post: have you done a tune up? Were you using 93 octane gas? How is your driving? The tests are done with someone who is light on the gas pedal. Just some thoughts

That's all great info but what I REALLY want to know is how the hell to get the oil filter off of my 2003 GS300 without spilling oil down the damned engine. I did it for the first time last night and luckily I had a rag underneath it and caught most of the spillage but I'm sure there's got to be an easier way...
Thanks in advance!
have the pan for the dirty oil sit under the filter. youre gonna have to deal with the fact of it getting on some of the engine. use brake parts cleaner right after to clean it off

sounds like an electrical problem to me. have the shop check the controls. is it making a noise when you turn the a/c on? maybe compressor going bad?

Work Emotion FTW... pricey, but they look super clean and flush

anyone have any tips on how to put the strut back in? i took it out, replaced the spring and strut and now im having a hard time getting it in again.
-
Did all that as well. Pretty much a new front end in parts. turned out to be exhaust heat shields. took it to a muffler shop and had them put on a new exhaust i ordered. sounds perfectly fine now. no clunks, rattles or anything.

If you plan on 600 hp, Expect on spending around 10k or more for a decent setup. Good Luck B)
Major thumbs up on that bud Going for 600 HP reliably and having it as a daily is going to be pricey. Now if you're going for a one time run and not caring about the motor, then yes the 600 HP is easy to achieve. Either way, good luck with the build. If you run into any problems or need parts, ask dcfish the walking encyclopedia/parts store :whistles:

the ge bottom end holds up to 400 horses. what size of turbo, how much boost, are you planning to get it tuned as well? and you said a 2j supra head? is it the gte or the ge?
well ive heard that the bottom end is the same as a gte my freind just took his gte 2j apart and its the same
im not sure wut size turbo yet but lookin for about 600 whp. looking to run about 12 psi,
annd ita a gte head
only same thing in the GE and GTE bottom end is the block and the crank. the rods and pistons are different. GTE bottom end has oil squirters for the pistons as well where the GE does not. I have taken apart both motors, and there is a difference. As far as the NA-T route, its a lot more pricey to go that way. Buying the GTE swap is cheaper.

lower ball joints you can get from any major auto parts store. as far as the upper ball joints, you have to get the upper control arm with it as well. and about the part you are talking about, can you post a picture? would be a lot easier to help

About 130ish :whistles: on the interstate in my 99 GS300 spanking a g35. I-64 in virginia. Four lane highway. Was around 11 at night. Barely any traffic or cops. Is it me or does it seem that G35's like to screw around with GS's? ---->G35 :chairshot: <---- LEXUS GS

same procedure. put a jack under the car. take off the wheel. loosen and remove caliper. take out old pads, lubricate the pins, put on new pads. and re assemble everything. check to rotors as well while youre at it.
-
check them. take off all the tires and check the pads one by one. as far as the rotors, they could be warped. but yet again i cant teleport there and tell. the only way to find out is to check for yourself. if its on the original pads at 44k, then yes change them.

My gf has a 2000 GS300 with a 6-disc cd changer and her lcd has gone out. She would ideally like a touch screen with different capabilities, but I am far from knowledgable about what it takes and do not want to spend a fortune.
Anyone know whats the best option for this model, or does anyone have an idea as to where to get an lcd cheap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Cheap is not a word for lexus bud. :chairshot: It all depends on preference. Do you want to stay factory or does aftermarket work as well. If factory, you can get the touchscreen/gps player that comes with the cars. That one runs around 1200. Where as aftermarket, you can get a descent one for about 800-900. Either way, go with quality. If funding is tight, save up. Dont go with garbage in a lexus. Garbage cd players belong in a honda

Its your car bud, do what you think looks best. Doesnt matter on opinion. I would give it a try. I've seen just a lip kit on the front bumper. Looks descent in my opinion

Hey guys my name is Kevin and im thinking on getting a 01 GS300. first time ever owning anything other than nissan and i have a question. Has lexus ever mad a GS series vehicle Manual? Also has anyone ever done a 5 speed swap? I've tried seraching these questions but i always ended hanging on a cliff. please respond with any information. good day
Welcome to toyota kevin. You will enjoy a lexus over a nissan anyday. Now to answer your questions. For the 98-05 lexus gs, they didnt come in a manual. Not in U.S anyways. I think Japan has them, but dont quote me on it. A 6 speed swap is a royal pain in the !Removed! on these. Require deep pockets as well. But hey if you have the money, then why not? I have seen one converted to a 6 speed, but the stock shifter was retarted long on it.lol. Im guessing you want to swap out the GE for the GTE? and if so, the auto swap is way cheaper. Best of luck to you with your lexus and welcome to the forum

Help! Brake, Abs, Vsc, Buzzer Noise

Your abs system decided to tale a !Removed! on you. It's definitely expensive, considering you have to replace the actuator which costs an arm and a leg. Sorry for your misfortunes. As to the guy whose pedal goes to the floor, get yourself a Mew master cylinder. The seals inside the master are leaking break fluid past them. Do it soon before the fluid gets to your booster and takes that out as well.
