  1. Had to use a dremel tool to get the old tips off and finally replaced them.
  2. I have the new tips and still having a difficult time removing the stock ones. I have locking pliers (not sure if this is the same as channel lock) and twisting with no luck. Any other hints at this...I definitely dont want to destroy the tailpipe. Thx for your help.
  3. Hey DC, can you tell me how you removed the stock tips from your GS. Mine's look like crap and i'm ready to replace them. Also did you replace with the screw on's or did you weld it.
  4. At this time don't really care to replace the entire exhaust and wanted to know if anyone knows how to replace just the exhaust tips on the GS. Mines no longer shine and replacements would be nice. And if they can be replaced are most the screw on type that I've seen or can they be welded on? I think I would prefer welded. Thanks for any info.
  5. When dealing with a slim jim the user needs to be extremly careful. Moving it up and down with hard quick movements can cause the rod inside the door to be damaged. I know this because I used to be a police officer and damaged a few myself before learning to be more patient. You may want to check with a auto-glass repair shop first. Should be alot cheaper.
  6. Hey when trying to pull off the taillamps there are 2 screws I need to loosen. Screwdrives don't seem to do it...I see you can also use a hex bit...What size do you use? I thought I found it but know luck when I turn it. NM, I found it in another post...10mm.
  7. I would like the JP taillights but they will have to wait for now...But I am interested in the heating method for my 99GS. Wonder if it will also work with a hairdryer...A bit safer than the oven...
  8. Mines shook also although when I took it to NTB they did not feel it. They finallly said one tire was out of alignment and fixed for free it but that did no good (I honestly don't think they did anything). The Lexus dealership said get rid of the Good Years and get Michilin...Problem solved until I had a flat and went back to NTB to get it repaired. Also got them rotated and balanced and the shaking began once again. Went to a Toyata/Lexus garage for maintainance and they rotated and balanced them and once again the problem is solved. I won't be going back to NTB.
  9. Even though you are hearing it on the drivers side only it sounds like the ac filter....When they get dirty they cause a squeaking sound.
  10. Had a squeaking sound in my 99 GS and found out during my 60k maintainance that it was my AC filter...It's been 6 months and the sound is back again along with a mildew odor when I turn the AC on. Would rather change the filter myself rather than taking it to the Lexus dealership and paying $100...Anybody know where its located/how to change it? Thanks in advance.
  11. Finally found a phillips screwdriver that fit the remote...The key is attatched to the remote side plastic. But the remote module inside is removable and that is what makes the vehicle start. So need to order a blank key and have it cut and swap the module with the new one.
  12. Is it only when the A/C is turned on? If so it's the A/C filter.
  13. Did a search and was not able to find an answer to my question...My '99 RX300 master key remote casing has completly broken apart, but the key still will get me in and start the engine. Is it possible that I could just order a new master key and have the old key swapped in the new casing, then have the remote programmed?
