  1. I have a set of 5 factory LS430 16" brushed aluminum wheels from an '02 for sale. I purchased them in California from the original owner there to replace the corroded wheels on my own '02. However, I recently sold that car before I could install the wheels, so they're sitting in my garage taking up space. The wheels are in good shape, NO CORROSION, and just the usual wear and tear on them. Center caps included. They have Falken 225/60-16 tires on them that are probably 70% worn. Asking $250/OBO for the set of five. Will not split the set up just yet...You pick them up in Cincinnati, or I can deliver them to a few places I travel throughout the US if time is not a factor. I am a VERY motivated seller...Email me at: thomas.robbins@fuse.net Cheers, Tom
  2. Anybody here live near Carson-Los Angeles? I've found a set of wheels for my '02 LS430 on Craigslist listed in Carson...well, I live in Cincinnati, but travel to Long Beach frequently by private aircraft, so I could pick them up, but I'd need someone to check them out. I could make it worth your while if interested. PM me or reply here... Cheers, Tom
  3. Some good ideas! Searching Craigslist, I see many 17" and 18" wheels FS. Will any model year 17" 0r 18" LS430 wheel fit with my oversized calipers? Cheers, Tom
  4. With apologies, I posted this in the LS430 forum, forgetting there was a tire and wheel forum. The factory chrome wheels are flaking and corroding badly enough that it's hard to keep the bead sealed, and even harder to keep wheel weights on. Evidently my LS430 came equipped with larger front calipers, and my local Tire Discounters has no idea which aftermarket wheels will fit. Two of the styles they showed as a correct fit would not clear the calipers on the front. I don't want to get 17" or 18" wheels, because the 16" tires I have are basically new. So, anyone know of a subtle-styled 16" wheel that will fit over the large front calipers on an '02 LS430? Thanks in advance, Tom
  5. That's a good thought, although unless I can buy locally and see the condition of the wheel, I'd be suspect. Plus, if it doesn't fit for some reason, I'm stuck... Cheers, Tom

  7. I want to bleed and replace all the brake fluid on my new-to-me '02 LS 430 tomorrow, as the stuff in there is pretty dark and may be factory original at 85K. I have access to a Snap-On vacuum brake bleeder that attaches to the bleeder screws and sucks out the old stuff, then draws in the new stuff when you add it at the reservoir. Sounds simple? I've heard that you should start at the caliper furthest from the reservoir and work back, and to take care not to break off any corroded bleeder screws. Any other advice/warnings/cautions/gotchas I should be aware of? How about recommended brake fluid? Thanks in advance, and... Cheers! Tom

  9. I don't believe I would ever spray silicone on the serpentine belt or for that matter any other type of drive belt. Silicone is a lubricant and would cause it to slip a little more. Yes you may benefit momentarily, but personally I don't feel that would be in your best interest. Belt dressing is also a temporary fix. Best bet is to determine why it's squeaking or squealing and remedy that situation. If it's not a mechanical issue such as worn out tensioner, pulleys out of alignment etc, then normally the belt is worn. A shiny belt is usually a good indicator of one that is or has been slipping. It's always a good idea to give the belt a quick glance when checking the oil. Glad to hear the replacement worked out for you.Brett One thing the silicone spray can determine is if it's a belt issue or something else making noise. One very brief, quick shot right on the belt immediately quieted the noise, which led me to believe the problem was with the belt, not a pulley, or worse. I agree with the above post, though, silicone or belt dressing is not a permanent fix... A closer look at the belt once it was off revealed glazing and quite a bit of cracking. I'm guessing it was the original belt, with 74k miles on it. I replaced it with a Dayco 3-yr warranty belt, $43 @Pep Boys. Cheers, Tom
  10. Sorry, I meant tighten the serpentine belt. I replaced it yesterday, and so far, so good... Thanks, Tom
  11. Hello all, New to the board with the purchase of a 2002 LS430 with 74k miles. Loving the car so far, but dislike the serpentine belt squeak. A small shot of silicone spray makes it stop, but it soon returns. I've heard belt dressing is a no-no, and that the belt needs to be adjusted. Is this difficult? I also know that I'm getting close to timing belt replacement, but having just bought the car, I'm not in a position to part with another 1+k. Any estimate on what a shop would charge to tighten it? The belt and pulleys look to be in good condition... Any thoughts would help. Cheers, Tom
