  1. To my knowledge, there is NOT a controller in the vehicle. If there would be, there would be some place to adjust the gain etc. I think you need to add one if you want electric trailer brakes. There is no mention of a factory installed one in any literature I have found. This is my third LX 470 and I have never seen any info on any of them about a controller. I've heard in other posts on this forum that, although there isn't a factory installed trailer electric brake controller, the vehicle is PRE-WIRED for one of these controllers. However, apparently it's really difficult to find the wiring to connect the brake controller as it's hidden somewhere under the steering column/dash. My assumption is that it's pre-wired with the female connector and all one has to do is plug in the male connector from the electric brake controller... Can someone/anyone out there confirm this and, if possible, provide a photo or details of where the wiring is located? Thanks!
  2. Hi there, I'm a recent owner of an '03 LX 470 (Black on Tan) and a newbie on this site. I will soon be towing our trailer with my new ride but the trailer doesn't have surge brakes, it only has electric brakes. I've read a few posts on here that the vehicle is pre-wired for an Electric Brake controller, but that the wiring harness/connector is hard to find...it's located somewhere under the steering column. I'm hoping someone out there has a picture (or can take a picture) of where exactly the connector is to post as I cannot seem to find it. I called the local Lexus dealer and they weren't much help. If you are unable to take a picture, maybe a detailed description of what exactly I'm looking for (colour, shape) and some "landmarks" it's near by would be a huge help. Thanks in advance. Jarvis.
