  1. I was offered this program on a previous vehicle. There were two catches to it. You had to have all of your tire rotations and balancing done by them and they would replace with a tire that was on your vehicle or a tire that is compatible.....their choice, not yours! For what they charge at the dealer for tire rotation and balancing every 6 months, by the time the tires are ready to be replaced you have already paid for the new ones. I do my own rotation, and balancing is not required if there is no vibration or bounce in your tire. I have never had a tire that needed to be rebalanced in all of my years of driving. Maybe I am just lucky or maybe it is because I buy a good tire, keep the pressure correct, and replace just as or slightly before the wear bars start to show.
  2. I would drive it or at least 20 minutes to make sure the fluid has reached normal operating temperature, park on a level surface and check again per manual instructions. It it was still showing full or above I would check with a transmission shop. If 4 1/2 came out then 4 1/2 should be put back.
  3. PUP is "Personal Umbrella Policy", and as the old saying goes, don't leave home without it. The $1,000,000 not only protects your liability on your car, but also your home and other vehicles that you may drive, to include motorcycles, boat trailers, etc. I have had one for at least 25 years in the state of California, Nebraska, and now Delaware. For the past 5 years my policy rate has stayed the same, $123 a year for the Umbrella Policy.. I have a home, car, pickup, and Harley. For clarification, the Umbrella is a coverall policy on top of the basic insurance you all ready have. In order to get an Umbrella policy, you generally have to carry basic liability of 250/500/250. Personally, I carry a slightly higher basic policy, as the rate on the basic was only about $14 more per year. You most likely will never have a need to cash in on this policy, but what a relief if you do. Also, your insurance company's lawyers are going to fight a claim much harder when they have $1,000,000 on the line than say $100,000 or $250,000. Raise your deductibles and you will start saving a few bucks to put toward that "PUP". On limited income, which as an ex-miltary member, I realize it could become a higher burden to pay, but in one accident you could lose everything you have, and will get in future years.
  4. Seems like I mentioned this last week! Glad you checked it out!
  5. Dial down to channel 0 and the ESN will be displayed. That is the number you need to provide to continue or sign up for new subscriptions. Very simple takes only a couple of minutes. If you had satellite radio in previous vehicle be sure to delete that one so you will not be paying for an extra vehicle and someone else will be enjoying the music.
  6. Try using a product called Tuff Stuff made by Simoniz. It has been on the market for at least 30 years and I have found that it is better than any product I have tried. It is sold in most auto parts departments and is inexpensive. The aersol can is yellow and red. It comes out of the can as a foam. Use a soft bristle brush or terry cloth towel, rub in wait a couple of minutes and then wipe with a clean portion of the towel. Sometimes it helps to use a damp towel when doing the finishing detail.
  7. Your not getting my meaning. You can license and register your car in your home state and use that as your state of residence, buy insurance through an agent in Texas, and as a military member you can travel and live in any state, and you are in essence just visiting the state in which you are stationed. The requirements of Texas is all you have to meet. Your car would have to be registered in Texas, unless you purchase a non-resident plate in the state where you are stationed. If you where to buy a house in the State in which you are stationed than that would change your residency and all of the above would not be allowed. It is part of the Solider's and Sailor's Relief act that was enacted in about 1937. Same thing applies as to voting and to paying state taxes. Check it out at your military Judge Advocate's Office. I have been retired for quite sometime but I receive updates from the military and I have never seen where anything has changed, in that regard. When and if you are stopped my a police officer you show your License, Registration and Military I.D. to establish your legal postion, and your wife would use her dependent ID card, except as stated before, she would have to have a current license from the state in which you are stationed. Why mess with GEICO. Try State Farm, Nationwide. I used to be insured with USAA, than AAA. Now I find that State Farm provides better coverage at a lower price. But that can change depending on where you live. GEICO is not by any stretch of the imagination a cheap company and their claims processing is less that stellar.
  8. If you are active duty military you can register and insure your car in your home state, if it is to your advantage. You do not have to do so in the state in which you are stationed. You can also maintain a residence, in your home state (Home of Record) for military purposes and use plates from the state you are living in and obtain the plates as a non-resident, or keep them in your home state. That is a small benefit for active duty military. You would also be paying taxes in your home state or Home of Record. You can not have it both ways. I did this for 20 plus years when I was in the military. Your wife's only obligation would be that she would have to maintain a driver's license in the state that you are presently stationed. My home state was Maryland and I was never stationed in that state and I moved all around the country and the world. In most cases my insurance was significantly cheaper than the state in which I was stationed. In a couple of cases it was 50% cheaper. Check it out, you have nothing to lose.
  9. Yes, just leave the selector in the middle position!
  10. Do a little research through google and you can get the Lexus warranty for less. It is the same one your dealer sells. Some dealers do this in volume and they get a discount on the price and they can reduce the price to you.
  11. Brake pads are a whole lot cheaper than transmissions!!!
  12. How do I add vehicle to garage?
