  1. I assume you did a drain and refill. The A541E transmission holds 7.1 quarts of ATF (specification from 97 ES300 manual). Due to the transmissions design, on a drain and refill, only a portion of the transmission fluid drains out. In your case 3.7 quarts. So now you have about 50% new and 50% old ATF. That's why it's brown. Do a drain and refill two or three more times over a period of several weeks and as the percentage of new to old rises your fluid will become red. There is a technique for replacing all the fluid. It's pretty easy. Search the Toyota site for instruction.
  2. I had the P0171. I had a bad mass airflow sensor. Try cleaning your mass air flow sensor. I had to replace mine.
  3. For a 1999 ES300, Just go to Amazon and search for "Monroe 171679 Sensa-Trac Struts and Cartridge". That's front left. And "Monroe 171678 Sensa-Trac Struts and Cartridge" for front right. Use their compatibility feature right on the page to see if it fits you car. I went with another vendor listed under "more buying choices." considerably less expensive.
  4. Good job on the replacement. However, with all the parts that you replaced I would recommend using Monroe quick struts. The whole assembly is new, fully assembled. I replaced my front struts for $270 plus saved a boatload of time. I just dropped out the old assembly and installed the new ones. The reason I choose the quick struts was that I wanted to replace the struts and the mounts. The cost was the same for both.
