  1. Any opinions about putting on OEM door trim strips? I saw them on an ES350 at a Lexus showroom. They come already painted, and they're put on with some sort of adhesive backing. My dealer doesn't have any accessories yet for ES350 like these strips or a little prepainted trunk spoiler. Would you do it? I have mixed emotions about putting on add ons. P.S. I already saw a slight scratch on my drivers door from some A-hole that wasn't careful when they opened up their door and hit into mine.
  2. Has anybody seen or got this option(Pre Collsion and Dynamic Radar)yet? I'm curious because that was the only thing lacking on my ES350 UL equipped car. My dealer, in the New York City area told me that this option is a special order, and they haven't received delivery on any cars with it, as of yet. Alan
  3. go to www.lexus.com then click on OWNERS in the banner click on My Lexus (should first choice in a vertical list) Log in click on My Profile scroll down to Communication Preferences next to Lexus Magazine click the YES circle. steviej I have always had 'Communication Preferences' checked off......but I haven't received a copy of Lexus Magazine in about 2 years. I don't think they like me 'cause I always complained about the transmissions. LOL
  4. I can't find the right buttons to press on the Lexus website. :(
  5. I received the magazine for about 2 years and then it stopped coming. I guess Lexus ran out of stamps. :P
  6. The part that amazes me is this issue took so long for Toyota to address. Our dealer told us this was their number one complaint. This hesitation problem hasn't soured repeat business? I don't see how its soured repeat business, the ES has sold strongly every year and the launch of the ES350 has been very strong. As I said in an above post, "it has definitely soured repeat business to some degree". The "degree" might be small, but it's definitley there. I personally know about 20 people that were turned off buying an '02 to '06 ES because of this tranny situation. Now, multiply that figure around the world where ES's are sold and I'm sure it had some impact on sales. Sure, I know they sell strongly.......but is it possible that sales could have been even stronger? I think so. ;)

    New Camry

Another nice writeup for the 2007 Camry. http://money.cnn.com/2006/04/06/Autos/carr...aylor/index.htm
  8. I started this thread in May 2003, and yes, it has definitely soured repeat business to some degree. It seems that from 2002 to 2006 these cars basically used to the same type of transmission and no type of reprogramming could correct these problems completely. After 3 years of ownership I finally traded in my '03 ES300 with only 16k miles for a '07 ES350. This new car has a completely redesigned transmission that really works fantastically. I once again look forward to driving my car. :)
  9. I agree about that, except I'm still a little nervous thinking about "what if". LOL
  10. well they do offer a 10 year/100k warranty, so they're confident that their vehicles are well built. I rented a Hyundai Sonata in Scottsdale, AZ about a year ago from Hertz. I was originally disappointed because they didn't have the Camry that I ordered in stock. My disappointment was short lived after driving this car. Ride, Performance, quietness, and build quality were really excellent. I remember saying to myself.....I will no longer put down Hyundai's as a second rate car manufacturer. This company has come a long way in a very short time. Look at the Azera and you'll see what I mean.
  11. too late, I already read it. I don't think the millenium looks anywhere near tan or even a hint of tannish. Maybe you are confusing it with the other greyish color that was available. It was more like an off-grey, they called it Alabaster Metallic (3Q4). steviej I'm going to be in Potomac, MD in September......which is not too far where Steve lives.....and I'll make him pay for those negative remarks. hehe
  12. SWO3ES- I didn't say I was afflicted with Presbyopia.....I was just using this as an example. I may be old, but NOT that old. hehe :P
  13. I'm going to have to tell Steviej what you said about the Millenium Silver. LOL Don't ask for the 350 as a loaner.....'cause you won't want to give it back. :)
  14. Thanks 93lex. Better late then never. LOL :)
  15. I don't know whether the smoothess is because of VOC paints alone......look at some of the lacquer paint jobs that were done many years ago......they looked like glass. I saw the Tungsten color on the ES350 and they looked very similar to my Milennium Silver '03 ES.
  16. That's correct......but the tape player is on both the standard radio and the Mark Levinson radio. I might add that it's one of the best sounding cassette players I've heard in a long time....even though that technology is a fast dying method of sound reproduction. :(
  17. I know, and I'm saying I can see just fine at night with very dark windows at all hours of the night with very, very poor vision and I'm no where near being a senior. ;) The point of my disagreement is that you don't have to be 80 years old to have poor vision. My mother is more than twice my age, and she can see perfectly, day or night, w/o glasses. I didn't see any mention of how eyeglasses or contacts affect their reports (maybe I missed it?). <_< Argument is such an ugly word with aweful connotations, let's say heated debate. LOL Yes, a heated debate......we still friends? ;)
  18. It doesn't make a difference whatever color you pick, more importantly, it amazes me how beautifully the paint is layed down on these cars! Not a trace of orange peel anywhere. :)
  19. I don't need to ready anything since I know how my eyes react. There was nothing objectively offensive in my post. Perhaps you should reread what I wrote, ideally the last or two stentence where I said, "I know everyone's vision is different though! My $.02." Ya know, $.02 part meaing it's *my* opinion. I'm sorry for giving a counterpoint, but there are 2+ sides to any story. Perhaps you should dial in to your LOC control panel and ignore my posts as not to insult your intelligence in the future. ;) +1 Please read this and then re-read my original post: http://www.visualexpert.com/Resources/olderdrivers.html I was NOT talking about glare....I was simply talking about loss of night vision! ;)
  20. I disagree. I'm a step or two away from being legally blind (I have presbyopia, bad myopia, and astigmatisms in both eyes.), but I can see just fine with tint--in fact, I prefer it. I had absolutely no problems at night with my former 10% and current 40% tint on the front windows. I'd really like to get the windshield done now to cut down on the bright lights from head on traffic, plus it'd look cool too! B) I know everyone's vision is different though! My. $.02. I think you should read this instead of making me feel like I'm stating things off the top of my head. :chairshot: http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/25.html
  21. Oh yeah......as you get older your 'night vision' is less, so tinting can have a very negative effect on your ability to see things in the dark!!
  22. You have any better pictures? Like one that wasn't taken from the roof of your house?!?! I'd guess 40%; then again, it is so hard to tell from a picture! Ideally, the best way to take a picture to show the % of tint is to open the window about halfway and shoot the picture from inside the car, showing the outside. ;)
  23. Hey RX- Nice writeup........my feelings exactly. ;)
