  1. If you have no squeal problems then leave it alone.
  2. The purpose of shims is to prevent the brakes from squealing. They are actually called, anti-squeal shims. They were put in there for a good reason....so why not use them? :)
  3. Thanks SK.....It's true, I love this car more, and more every day! :)
  4. Thank you stevie........I hope to keep the ES forum running as smoothly as ever.
  5. The windshield film you're talking about is sandwiched between the inner and outer layer of glass and is bonded together. From what rmiley6 said, this film is on the inside of the windshield.
  6. I never heard of a film being on the inside of the stock windshield, unless you're talking about tinting film which is an aftermarket process. Possibly this moisture is making that plastic film release.
  7. Firstly, I think you mean 300ES, not 330ES. I think it would be highly unlikely that this repair would be covered by the Lexus warranty. To make sure about this, I would call the Lexus Corporation and ask. :( P.S. Welcome to the club. :)
  8. Adding a second alarm system is no problem. If the job is done by a professional installer......they'll know exactly what to do. :)
  9. Would you know if the '07 ES350 has the override feature? If it does I didn't read anything about it. :)
  10. Once the indicator light goes on you have to turn off the ignition and start all over again. A good reason for the triggering of the indicator light could also be because of oxidation in the bulb sockets. They sell contact cleaner in electronic stores which will remove this oxidation.
  11. Do like the book says....replace with platinum plugs. The additional power is miniscule with copper, and it's a PITA to change them. :)
  12. The wiring harness in the trunk that controls the rear lights also joins up with the CD changer wiring. There might be a break in this wiring(inside the harness) that will make the radio come back on when the circuit opens......as when you jiggle the trunk door. I suggest that you remove the harness covering in the trunk and check to see that any of the wiring to the CD changer is not broken.
  13. No. it's not just you.........I was receiving all the publications up until about 2 years ago and then no more, although I just received the picture frame about a week ago. :(
  14. I can't answer that question, but I would appreciate it if someone that has an '06 GS300 AWD would look in their owners manual and tell me what it says about the fuel requirements for this car, and is anything mentioned about using regular grade fuel? Thank you.
  15. That I know, but here's the reason I asked this question. In almost every year of the ES Owners Manuals they mention that regular grade fuel could be used with somewhat less performance. I noticed that the compression ratio in the ES's are lower then the 6 cylinder '06 GS's, so I wanted to know.....does the 2006 GS300 AWD mention anything about using a regular grade fuel? My friend just bought a GS300 AWD and he was under the impression that you could use regular grade fuel if need be......and I told him NO. This is the main reason for this thread. :)
  16. Does this car definitely require premium fuel with at least 91 octane?
  17. Yes, I got my beautiful leather picture frame in the mail last week. I put in a picture of my pretty ES350......of course I did this after reading the literature in the frame. Very nice touch! :)
  18. If what you are saying about the room in the GS, then why did Edmunds say this in their write up: "The Lexus GS 300 has a roomy cabin that provides the driver and front passenger with space to stretch out. Impressive amounts of leg- and shoulder room easily accommodate the long-limbed and broad-shouldered." Or is this the plain GS300, not the AWD?
  19. How do you figure that? The ES350 has a 272HP engine and the GS300 has a 245HP engine. Bigger in what respect? The GS has a cramped cabin with much less legroom(both front & back) then the ES.
  20. All things being equal as far as optional equipment which car would you prefer, the '07 ES350 or the GS300 AWD? Advantages and disadvantages?? I'm asking this because I got into a discussion with a friend of mine who went into his local Lexus dealer and they were able to discount the GS to about the same price as the ES. What's your take on this situation and what would you do, and why??
  21. This is the kind of skunks we have here:
  22. I guess from the previous posts about leaving the windows open, and continually washing the car.....you guys don't have a clue about skunk odors! The skunk spray is oil-based and therefore the main thing is to get rid of this foul smelling oil and that's why I suggested using a chemical to dissolve it. Your suggestions won't do squat!! :chairshot:
  23. Hydrogen peroxide is the main ingredient in commercial skunk scent remover--AND it's dirt cheap. 1. Fill a spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide, and spray the affected part of your car. 2. You'll know you've found the source of the odor when you see the peroxide foaming. 3. Don't forget to spray your tires! 4. Wipe the peroxide off quickly, as it has the potential to bleach some surfaces.
