  1. You have to try to get into the volume control and spray in a contact cleaner, but don't ask me how to do this since I never had the opportunity to get into a Lexus radio. It's most likely to have oxidation in this control. :)
  2. There's no carb on your engine.......it's fuel injected. :)
  3. Because it took a completely re-designed transmission to eliminate this problem, and that's why I bought an ES350. I'm totally happy with this new unit. :)
  4. You still have air in your brake system. Did you use a power bleeder, or if not, did you bleed the brakes in the proper sequence?
  5. Not so.........Some high performance, high compression engines require at least 91 octane.
  6. This is what it says in my '07 ES350 Owners Manual, and also for the '06 GS300's. I don't know what it says for all other Lexus models though.
  7. Sure they make external DVD-RW's........they're advertised all over the place. :)
  8. Actually, I live in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn NY, but I have relatives all over the US & Canada, which I visit at times for free food and lodgings. LOL Here's a partial map of the Long Island area where Middle Island is located.

  10. I've been dealing with Bay Ridge Lexus for over 12 years and this dealership doesn't believe in hasseling a potential customer. Since I've bought 3 cars from them I deal with the Retention Manager and they know that I pay cash on all my transactions....no financing! I feel that they've always come up with a fair price. Here's how this deal went: While waiting for my 2003 ES to be serviced I walked over to the showroom and saw the Retention Manager(I can't mention names). He asked me if I'd like to test drive an ES350. I said, sure and I jumped in to a white car parked outside the showroom. Immediately I noticed an amazing difference in performance compared to my 2003 ES. The transmission was wonderful, and the added horsepower made the car leap out like a scared rabbit. I was totally impressed. He then told me that he didn't have any in stock yet, but he expected delivery the next day. The next day I called him and asked if he got in an Amber Pearl car. He told me that the color I asked about was just put on the showroom floor, and I possibly wouldn't be interested since it was the Ultra Luxury edition. I told him to hold it until I came down to the showroom. I raced down, saw the car, and made a deal, all within 1 hour, and picked it up the next day. Everything couldn't have been done more smoothly. This was done about 3 months ago, and my car was the only Ultra Luxury model that they've received so far. You gotta strike while the irons hot! :)
  11. hmm, are you sure you are correct? I would say your PS needs ATF fluid not PS fluid. From my understanding Lexus uses a special type of fluid for the power steering pump, not ATF fluid.
  12. All I can tell you is you have to test drive it yourself. Then you will see and feel the best ES ever produced by Lexus. I couldn't be any happier. I truly look forward to driving this car and am constantly trying to find places to go, whether it's necessary or not. Do you think I love this car? My answer is a resounding YES.
  13. Yup.......you're getting the bug.......time to reconsider your original decision. LOL
  14. Thanks for your input! Please keep us informed on the outcome of your situation, and particularly if the new transmission is better. Was your '07 an early production car? Did the dealer have it on the lot since they first came out? I just checked the manufacture date on my ES350.......it was March, 2006.......and everything works perfectly........so far. LOL
  15. It's very unfortunate that your ES350 is having a transmission problem, but by NO means is this the same as the '02-'06 problems!! I traded in my '03 ES mainly because of this and so far I have absolutely NO complaints about the transmission in my ES350. I love the new transmission, COMPLETELY!! Your problem is an isolated incident!!
  16. Sorry to say that I don't think Lexus is going to try any more ECM upgrades anymore. I had the same experiences you are having, and that's why I started this thread, May 20 2003. I suffered with this problem from the first day I drove the car out from the dealer, up until I traded it in for an ES350. I'm now completely happy with the new car, in every respect, but it's a damn shame that you, as well as many other drivers have to deal with this, with NO satisfaction, especially on a car called "Lexus".
  17. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your new ES350........it's a great automobile! As far as the grade of fuel that you use, you'll have to determine this yourself. The image below is taken right out of your Owners Manual.
  18. I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but you can give it a try. http://www.trailerhitches.com/?source=goog...h&tid=broad
  19. You're overinflating your tires!!!! The proper inflation for your car should be between 28 to 32 PSI. You never use the maximum inflation as written on the sidewall since all this indicates is that the tire can handle this inflation safely....but not for general use.
  20. The "bump stops" are for large bumps not small bumps, so I would check the rear struts to see if the shock absorbers are doing their job properly.
  21. Misspelled - STAINER = STRAINER
  22. Hi Jim and welcome to the club. I'm sure that you'll love your new car more and more as time goes by. In my estimation, after owning 4 ES's since 1990, the ES350 is the best one so far. Good luck and enjoy.
  23. This is a very hard question to answer because when you buy stuff like a compressor from an auto wrecker you never know things like, how much use the part had before the car was junked. Was the part in good condition, etc, etc. Then you have to ask yourself.....do you want to put in the junk parts and find out that it might possibly crap out after a short time. In other words, there's no guaranty that you'll get satisfactory service. This is the chance you're going to have to take. Personally, I would get the new replacement parts. You never mentioned what year ES you have.
  24. Don't do that again.......it scared the hell out of me. :chairshot: HeHe
