  1. Sure.....higher RPM's WILL burn more oil especially if your engine is not in top condition(rings, valve guides, etc.) Check to see that your PCV valve is operating correctly.
  2. What happened to the $30,000 Lexus ES. Seemed like a fair price but 40K is way too much for what they offer. There's no such thing as a $30,000 ES, unless you're talking about a used car! :chairshot:
  3. When you hear this whine, try shifting into neutral and see if the whine continues. If it does maybe it's your tires that are generating this noise.
  4. There's a little volume knob near the bottom of the dashboard, near the steering column that controls the loudness of the beep when locking or unlocking the door. Most likely this control is at the lowest volume. Try turning it up, and let us know if that fixes it for you. ;)
  5. Just remember that after you have it flashed you can't go back to the previous ECU program! The people that have complained about the slowing down and then trying to accelerate smoothly have found that the flash didn't help that problem at all! I've found that after the final flash on my '03 ES: The car lost the quietness when accelerating normally, since the RPM's to upshift were much higher as indicated on the tachometer, and the only way you could force the transmission to upshift was to slightly take your foot off the accelerator pedal. I also found that, my gas mileage was lower.....whether using Regular or Premium fuel. On top of this I found out from reliable sources that the car no longer would meet ULEV specifications, and the reason that Lexus developed the final flash was to try to satisfy their customers, rather then to address this problem correctly. I believe this, since the ES350 6 speed automatic exhibited none of the problems of the former generation ES's. I was so frustrated after suffering for 3 years of ownership of my '03 because of this problem, that I traded it in....with only 16K miles. P.S. Here's the first post that I made about this problem in May,2003.......sound familiar? >http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=3584&st=0
  6. I doubt whether this problem has anything to do with defective motor mounts, since this was an on going problem in the '02 thru '06 ES's! Example: From the first day I drove my brand new '03 ES out of the dealer I knew that something was f**ked up with this tranny, and after three years and two reflashes it still wasn't right!
  7. I say, DON'T reflash it! The only way I knew how to eliminate the jerkiness and hesitation was to trade the car in for an ES350! Look for my previous posts on this subject that started in the Spring of 2003. Here's a link> http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...?showtopic=3584
  8. P i s s e d is a naughty word. hehe :P
  9. I guess because the RX330 uses the same engine design as the RX300. They just modified the engine slightly to get the added displacement. When they went to the RX350 it now has a complete new engine design.
  10. Watch out for stone chips. The Lexus paint is not very durable. It's been over 4 months since the new paint job, and a few thousand miles more on the odometer, and NOT 1 chip on the car!!! I'd say that's pretty durable. :P
  11. I'm sure that the Lexus designers didn't feel it necessary to use a third set of stitches just to impress the few customers that wanted it. You also have to remember the super value you get when buying the ES350 as compared to the LS460! I guess that you deem this minor fact very important, but to me, it's not! ;)
  12. I loved them too, but I stopped loving them when they were ripped off on some of my old Cadillacs! :chairshot: I don't know whether you remember when bull nosing and dechroming was in fashion, but back in the 50's I took my fathers 1950 '88' Oldsmobile with the Rocket engine and did just that, and then repainted the car with a beautiful lacquer paint job. I also modified the engine with an Edelbrock dual carburetor manifold fitted with Cadillac carburetors, dual sandpack exhaust system w/ chrome echo cans. Would you believe that after all these modifications, the car accelerated from 0-60 in about 10 seconds. hehe
  13. Hey Steve- Here's a picture that I put up once before. Maybe you can count the stitches on the seats.......but so far I haven't ripped open any of the seams. LOL :P
  14. I normally leave all my controls in the "Flat" position. This means that no frequency range(Bass, Mid, Treble) is boosted or attenuated. If some of the recordings need some tweaking, then I will use these tone controls. This is on a Mark Levinson Audio System. ;)
  15. This option really made a big difference as far as I was concerned.
  16. I'm eager to see it installed on an ES350 also, since the one I saw installed on my friends 2003 ES didn't look too good because the lineup of the extra wood parts didn't line up very well.......they interfered with the operation of some of the control buttons....and this was installed by a Lexus dealer! It really looked like a poor aftermarket installation.
  17. Around here the entire first shipment was ULs. My dealer got 4 on one truck. I didnt see a non-UL ES for a couple weeks after the launch. Strange....and Lexus.com still don't list the UL Edition in the Maryland, Washington DC as an available option???

  19. I think you have that backwards. Every dealer in New York State, after the ES350 hit the market received mostly Premium or Premium Plus Editions, on a 10 to 1 ratio.....approximately. ;)
  20. A misunderstanding. Originally he told me, back in April that the UL car I got was delivered to them on the first truckload of ES350's, of which all the others were Premium, or Premium Plus models. Now, he only gets the UL's only on special orders.
  21. My salesman never implied that it was a special order, but it came to them on the first truckload of cars.
  22. This is why so many prospective purchasers are not happy about not being offered the UL model in their areas......and on top of that, no ML in the Premium Plus Package....only in the UL! :(
  23. I just spoke to my friend who's a Retention Manager for Bay Ridge Lexus in Brooklyn, NY. He was surprised that the Lexus website didn't offer the UL package in my area. He added that his dealership gets a few UL's every month. The percentage of UL models that he sells only amounted to 5% of his inventory. Most likely in different parts of the U.S. and Canada this percentage varies.
