  1. Glad you fixed it........you're not an idiot......you should be proud that you found the problem.
  2. If you found the link on this website......make sure you're logged in. This website was recently updated and some members have inadvertently been logged out. They're working on this problem. Good luck and welcome. :)
  3. Once again......have the alternator checked out.
  4. The ML system was NOT designed to play audio DVD's, regardless of the format you choose, ie: mp3, wma, etc. Why don't you just burn your music onto a CD? In an mps format you'll get about 7-8 hours of play.....over approximately 150 tracks of tunes. Wasamatta...that's not enough? :chairshot:
  5. Here's the TSB Number: EL013-06 Title: Navigation System - Shows Vehicle in Wrong Location
  6. There is a TSB for your exact problem which your dealer should be aware of. In fact, my Lexus dealer ordered for me an updated DVD disc to correct this problem. They called me when they received this new disc. I drove into service, and within 5 minutes everything was corrected. Naturally, there was NO charge for this service. :)
  7. I think your best bet is to contact the Lexus Corporation for this type information.
  8. Updated DVD discs are available about every October with all the lastest Map and Points of Interest information. They cost around $300 and can be purchased from your local Lexus Dealers or online.
  9. Maybe so, but accurate sound is what it's all about. This is the whole concept of why people spend large amounts of $$$ for the best quality sound. High quality doesn't come cheap in any areas. If it did, then there would be no need for a Rolls Royce, or a Bosch appliance, or Tiffany..........if you get my drift. LOL
  10. True........The bass frequencies in the ML System are excellent! They are not boomy like some of the manufacturers installed premium systems. What some people think about bass is actually mid-bass which gives the sound a bass-y sound. In other words, the engineers chose an excellent crossover frequency between low bass and mid-bass. In my estimation this is much more natural sounding then the boom, boom sound of other systems. The ML system does NOT lack bass!! I have checked the frequency response with a calibrated test disc and sound level DB meter and found it to be flat from plus ot minus 2 DB from 25 hertz to 15,000 hertz. Pretty good I would say!! ;)
  11. I asked Steve the same question months ago, and here was his answer:
  12. I'm happy you're happy with your car and adjusted your driving habits to the transmission quirks, but I, for one didn't want to deal with this. I started this thread in the Spring of 2003 and finally decided in the Spring of 2006 to trade in this car for an '07 ES350....w/a new 6 speed transmission! I am now completely satisfied with the operation of this new car. You can't say I didn't try every conceivable method to be happy with the '03 ES300, but I did! I have spoken to 100's of owners of the '02 thru '06 ES's and the vast majority were definitely NOT happy with this transmission. Some have even tried to start a class action suit against Lexus, and some have even brought this to court as individuals, and some were successful in Lexus giving them buybacks.
  13. For a new member, you certainly are starting out on the wrong foot!! For your information, and your son's, the Lexus Navigation System is considered by auto experts to be the top rated units....bar none! Example: PC Magazine
  14. Read this first, and then make a decision as to whether you want to use this method or not. Remember there are pro's and con's using FIPG for certain applications. FIPG Information
  15. Good luck! I'm sure you'll love the car as much as me. Sounds beautiful! :)
  16. Spoken like a true Philips TV owner. LOL :P
  17. That was unfortunate, but as you should be well aware, ALL electronic components can fail, regardless of who manufactured it!! This is a fact of life.
  18. Why "MUST" they be hooked up in parallel? I just put a resistor in line(series), and it always worked fine.
  19. The fast flashing turn signal lamp is due to less resistance(ohm) in the #168 bulb. The only way to correct this is to measure the resistance of a #1157 bulb, and than add the proper resistance in series(in line) of your new setup. You need an ohmmeter to check this. A one watt resistor of the proper resistance should slow down this flashing.
  20. Ths article was written about seat belts for a Toyota Tacoma, but it can be applied to all cars.
  21. I finally got an answer directly from the Mark Levinson design team.
  22. It's definitely unsafe.......replace the whole belt! Your life is worth more than a few bucks. ;)
