  1. :o Oh man.....you push it too far and you will need to focus on a ton of other (expensive areas ) How much boost do you have? What is the name of your kit? I have a (99) SRT kit. I found problems with the manifold design. In some cases you may be able to look into your manifold design, pipe sizes, down pipe size from turbo. Those are areas to look at for more power. What kind of injectors do you have? Most kits are set up for up to about 8lbs, though 6 is safe on a N/A motor. What about motor work? Pistons, rods? Pullys? Let me know what your shootin for and what you got. We can look over some areas.... :P
  2. Hey guys. Phantom Motor Sports here in Utah is doing all the work. I have the 99 GS ( silver ) with dark silver tribal flames painted in. ( I think that was some good ol Utah red neck idea that kicked in) I was running the SRT t-4 turbo stage 3. I had the boost around 8 lbs. I broke the rings on the 3rd piston about 6 months ago. I am not sure if it was boost or the way the SRT manifold kit is set up? I have custom built the manifold into a longer barrel design to get more "even" pull from the manifold rather than the closest piston to the turbo. I replaced the crank, pistons, rods, with forged turbo pistons fron the Supra store...I am not sure of the name or brand. replaced the head and gasket with a turbo design off the Supra. I run the Level 10 tranny. I looked into Sound Perfomance trany as well ( they have a built ones ready for drop in) I went with the level 10 due to (warenty issues). The TC is a higher stall ( not much more than factory ) but built a hell of a lot stronger. I guess the TC blows before much in the tranny goes when you start gettn some juice to the engin. I have a dts-4 ign. I also run the super afc. I have no cats or o2's....I have the electronic bypasses for them, but am looking to run a complete ECU ( stand alone) to over come some other stock set up issues. I also am running a cooler for the trans. With all this, I am broke.....happy, but broke. I will get better details and some progress photos up soon. Thanks guys. :D
  3. :P I am so happy to see cash spent on a car......I am in about 10,000 with my GS. I put in the Level 10 trany and re-built my 2JZ-GE to a GTE using the original 99 motor with a SRT turbo and custom built turbo manifold. What a job! My wife and kids hate me.....my wife won't let me drive her car while mine is getting the final touches. I have been walking to work.... I thought Japanese girls would understand this kind of stuff....I guess I met the wrong Japanese woman? I also have a a few more goodies to produce the RWHP@ 400! I also have a few issues to work over on the original set up for the 2jz to keep that power smooth....but what the :o it's only cash.....right? Keep me posted, this is the real diggen SHT here! Keep us updated man....LEXO :D
  4. Well now....I am not sure what to think.....odd........very very well? .......odd I thik I have to pee....... :whistles:
  5. B) Ok just put two and two together. Have we met? spoke on the phone? You were at SEMA at the Junction Booth.......? ( this car right ) I took some photos with this car along with my brother and some other older Japanese guy. I spoke Japanese with him for a while. I lived in Japan and loved my copies of VIP. Well I dreamed and drooled on them I need a fusa in silver....my white one is dead. Thanks man LEXO ( Jason in Utah )
  6. :o I hate when they have to put their name on our car.... It is not painted on right? most dealers will not go to that extent..... So try to find an edge. Get out the hair dryer on low, touch over until it is warm not hot! and see if you can get a corner started with your finger nail.... it will have to be a thin vynal decal.... afterwards use some fine polish to finish the job off and remove any sticky stuff with goo gone...Hey the best way just for *BLEEP*s and giggles to get off emblems is soapy water and dental floss..... LEXO ;) If the sticker has been on a while the spot may be off colored.... :(
  7. do you have any HP upgrades? I like the light weight feel of an 18" on my trany... But to the question at hand. I have some 20"s with a 1.75 drop. If you use the correct offset you should get away with a 8.5 wide wheel upfront and up to a 10" wide wheel in back. I run a 245 on the front with a 275 on rear. Lsportline has a great ap for our car. I also love the feel and look on the new ( I hope I spell this correct ) Mahdi Caesar that is made by 5zigen.... They have a mix and match off set and sizing to bolt on with a correct fit and look. It will cost you around 4,000.00 but well worth it! Go to www.mahdicaesar.com/ts5html ;) I do not get any rub or drag. If you are turning sharp and hit a bump you wil rub the fenders outer lip, but that is com on any low car with larger rims..... Take it easy ( the ) LEXO
  8. Hey Lexo is back....It has been a while since I wrote. I have been to hell and back.......I have rebuilt the entire motor. rebuilt the turbo, Cutom built my manifold system, rebuilt my trany ( that was an education) I have had my baby in the shop for 4 months. I don't remember what it looks like. I found a ton of issues on the trany build. I found some cool shops to help me out as well. I think I may know a few more things about this car than I knew before this all started 4 months ago Just wanted to say hi, and let everyone know I am still here and if they have any questions about any upgrades to any of the areas above :) I may be able to help I hope to have it back next week. WITH more HP better grip, more boost! After 12,000.00 it better eh! We will see what the track test say...... Lexo. :P
  9. Big question guys...Ok all the non turbo folk can read another post. The 2jz-GE is a VVT-i motor. Now with us all knowing what this is, the cause of my blown motor may have been due to incorrect timing. About 5 months ago the speed shop installed a MSD ign along with a DTS-4 timing mod. This has a tube that connects to my boost control. I assume it reads boost levels and corrects the timing as to boost. Now a stock motor with 10lbs boost may be a bit much? Not sure but the problem with my motor started soon after this was installed. They said it was a safe guard. It was to pull timing out at high boost levels to be sure I didn't fry the rings?????? I guess I would like to see if any other folk have this mod? is it messing with the VVT-I? does the car or new built motor need it? or will the normal VVT-I do what it needs to handle the boost? It's tons of questions guys...sorry. I am worried this DTS-4 is (**%*()@@ up the motor!? ANY comment would be sweet.....Thanks B)
  10. First shoot em in the knee....be sure not to spill any blood on the car. Then shoot in the upper leg, this way he has about 10 min to make it to the Hospital on his own. If he looses too much blood and dies on the way it was clearly suicide and not your problem..... I would take it over to the dealer. The key is tricky and will require some TLC to be sure it is correct. Besides the insurance should cover.....I hope? :(
  11. :o Ok,with all the motor rebuilding I am doing I guess some focus should be on the trans. The shop is worried it has that burned up smell like the plates are on the way out. I have always has some clunking gearing down or going into gear a bit. it shifts hard under boost..... For the most part it has changed gears, not slipped or had any grinding. No vibrations or stuck gears. It does have a burnt like smell. The fliud was changed about 4 months ago and the Lexus dealer said it was in fine shape? I asked about the smell the shop told me about. He said they use a Lexus synthetic type. He did not answer the question for me. Is this smell normal? or what you think?
  12. Hey man good to hear from you! 68,000 is all. I have a feeling the car was having problems before the turbo. The turbo was on for a year. The car was more than drivable, but wanted to build the motor anyway....just not this soon I guess. I am not too sure tuner shops here in Utah realy know what the hell their doing. It was cylinder number 3 that had 70% blow by. The other were at 99~100%. Man this is going to put me right back into debt with this car......I plan on doing the trans while the motor is out. :) I hope it will run good after this is all done.... I am replacing the pistons with the turbo supra style for the GTE. I am not sure what to do for the trany? My Japanese wife has taken this good but man, she was not too happy about it. :( Oh well, on to spend some cash eh!
  13. :o Well this wek started out with a blown motor. Yep, the ol 10 lbs boost did the number on my stock motor. Well on to the (built motor) We started today. Motor is out, wires all over hell! I hope all this stuff goes back together I was also informed the trans is stinky. A good indication it's about shot as well? The shop is saying build it too while were here! I am not sure what is involved with this. I know I am out of cash and the motor is going to be put together right this time. What simple but good mods are needed? How or what can be done to build the trans to hold the new motor and 12~18 lbs of boost? I want to keep my baby. I would like to have it last for 5 years plus! BUT we need to spank a few ( think they have all that) dudes who need spanking on the road eh! I would like to thank all the guys or girls out here in post land for all the help and good posts. I will keep you all involved in this money sucking modified GS as we progress. Oh by the way the oil coming from the breather was a shot piston. We did a leak down and found number 3 piston was toast it had over 70% blow by! AH HELL whats another 12 thousand anyway? :( Thanks again guys, let me know if you have any thoughts.....
  14. Thanks guys! I have the SRT Turbo. I run the MSD and MSD boost/timing mod. I have all stock motor. I run about 10lbs boost. it puts down to the rear about 300 hp. It has ran great. I just tuned up the turbo and checked all the seals. It is oil fed. The turbo ( LUCKY ) turned out fine. I can see the oil dripping from the PVC valve tube( the hose from the PVC valve) It may just be shot! the motor runs fine! The spark plugs are clean. I see no reason for the motor to be shot! The oil is clean as well ( not dirty ) Hell if it is???? then here comes the supra swap! Dont care what it costs well maybe! :o Any how, the new PVC is here in the morning. I will chane it out, and fire it up and see..... I hope to god it is not rings needed. I hope the PVC is stuck or shot Does your pvc slobber some oil? It is not a ton or anything, but over a week it sure builds up! I cleaned the entire system including the turbo piping and parts. It was a !Removed! to remove all the pipe and cooler and yeh the screw driver and carb cleaner soaked rag got the intake. How often does the PVC valve need replacing I wonder? I will keep you guys posted. Any other who may have some idea let me know....Thanks guys. I need to post some photos eh!
  15. :o Oh Boy, I hope I am not in as bad as shape as I fear! I run around 9~10 lbs boost with my fairly stock motor. It has ran great. I noticed a real bad oily turbo a few months back. I replaced the seals, cleaned out my piping and put it all back together. The oil came back? Since all is new and clean I could run the motor and check for leaks and other ( oh crap ) items I may have forgot to put back on! I found the oil! it drips like an IV from the hospital. I noticed good pressure pushing out as well. ( keep in mind this all came about in a day or so, and the motor runs, idles and sounds fine! ) It performs fine as well out side the oil. It is dripping from the hose conected to the air intake side to the turbo. It is the larger tube running back to what I think is the PVC valve? It is located to the left of the motor ( facing) the car and motor before the fire wall. The other tube that looks just like it is on the right and conects to the actual intake( thr body). I also have the VSC light on the dash.... Is the motor shot? GOOD HELL tell me that is not the case. Is it the valve? does it need to be replaced? or is this to be expected and further modifications need done to keep it working correctly? The car I swear runs and feels normal. I did notice that once in a while while the motor is ideling a clicking noise is coming from the black little box conected to the thr body. but is goes away and comes back every so often during idle! Please help? thanks guys.... :(
  16. Sweet. I will be in touch....Thanks for the info. Lexo.
  17. Hey I need to locate on line a store or parts place that sells turbo parts and piping couplers. I need also some hosing in colors and various sizes..... I am changing from red to another color and also should replace some while I'm at it..... :D Thanks.
  18. I too have a 99 GS. I have the same problem. I didn't however, a week ago. I needed to brake hard since a nice elderly lady decided to make an very quick stop at an intersection ( with no stop sign on her side ) I had the turbo wound up after smoking a truck and OH Well you got the idea....... I too am in the market. If you find a group buy, let me know....... LEXO :D
  19. Ok so far I have removed most of the piping and cleaned out the oil. Flushed the motor. Now on to see why my turbo failed? Too much oil pressure? I do not see a regulator? Ok, so on to the turbo....4 bolts to the mufs, 4 to the manifold mount. Ah, no oil from the manifold.....good sign So must be the seals in the turbo? good night james, this is going to be :( MONEY.
  20. Help....I think I may know this already but, some ideas would be nice. My turbo is sending oil through the intake. It is leaking down the air intake tube out the filter. It just started. The motor is running fine. Starts great and is not using oil. Temp and comp looks fine on the gauge. The turbo was not sounding normal, :( and after some inspection of the bay noticed oil leaking around my turbo . I removed the air tube and it was leaking from the front fins. I reached in there and jiggled the fins and they were a little loose as well. I think the seals are shot. <_< Oil is moving fine in the lines and return. I first noticed this when my boost was inconsistant . It is a turbonetics hybrid t3/t4..... What ya all think? New turbo time? What will work with my SRT system? What are reliable replacements? Thanks! :D
  21. Utah...The best snow on earth <_< ( well now ) I think they should change or plates to say The most rock chips , salt damaged, sand in all the parts under the car, to the side of the car and in ( if on your feet ) the car. Good hell Utah knows the salt! The budjet is true, dont use it they loose it for next year. People here in Utah can't slow down.... It could be a blizard out and they still fly around 80 on the freeway? So UDOT puts it on thick..... The stupid part is in spring or if the weather has been good, they never clean the crap up. The big trucks chip the hell out of the front end. I sweap endless hours in front of my home all the gravel the spread with it. I have enough of the to start my own UDOT spreading co! I should sell it back to them..... Man I'm happy to have purchased a Ford to drive in the snow! ( my baby can stay home where it's warm and clean........The F150 can run in the salt.......... :)
  22. Well now......I can't find any words...? The Wilde Thornberries with a twist comes to mind. 850+ well that is bit more than my house....
  23. AWJ...long time no talkie. Lexo with the turbo GS in Utah. Hows it hangin? I have my turbo around 12 lb boost and runin clean....I am very happy with the way my turbo runs. It is like the factory ment it to be. My trany is holding good, and I keep the oil changed in the motor ( full syn). I have had mine on about a year as well. With the right kit and proper tuning, don't wait...get cha one! I was dyno here at 325 rwh. I do walk away from most here in Utah. My care with turbo is rare here in this state. I get some serious looks ( some good ) some ( what the hell is it? ) I will let you know of any further issues but, man I am pleased....
  24. Great tire! ran them on my wifes car. I think if the car can go over 140 ( and it will ) better stick with the rated tire..... ( you never know when you might get the feeling to open her up )
  25. well now, 20's are fine! I have 20's on my GS. It does slow you a bit off the line. I know my red line is showing 5900 rpm when it shifts, but in actuality it is at 6500 and the trans/gears are shifting correctly..... so they do effect your gear ratio. My spped guage was off at 80 mph by about 51/2 miles. RMM Rod millen makes a split gear ratio for our cars. This help with out the hole shots. Just a thought. I am not sure of the numbers though.....
