  1. The is300 wheels are kinda narrow for the sc. I put a set of is250/350 wheels on and they fit pretty good. Could use like a 15mm spacer in the rear to be flush, but a huge improvement over stock. They are 18x8 and 18x8.5, no clue of the offset.
  2. Lookin good, Im pretty sure I saw that sc on autotrader not too long ago. Grats on the purchase, if you are the original owner, grats on a good lookin car!
  3. If you want power then forget about the sc400, much easier to get what you need outta the 300. Probably the most desirable would be the 97 5spd, but 92s still look great and hold up very well. As said above, boostlogic has your answers as far as bolt ons, but you have a couple basic options. You can do 2jzna-T, 2jzgte, or 1jzgte. More info on those can probably be found in the performance sticky, on boostlogic site, or by searching this or similar forums. www.intellexual.net has oodles of information as well, read up and happy hunting.
  4. You could dump 10-20k into a custom turbo for the sc400 ...or sell it and source an sc300 to mod for speed.
  5. no offense man, but both of those rims are hideous. If I had to, and I mean on pain of death...Id go second set, but please rethink your choice. Nothin wrong with chrome, just keep it tasteful.
  6. I believe the sludge issue became a bigger concern with the 97-01 models...not positive, but its always good to check any year for possible sludge before buying.
  7. Sc300 has more available mods, thats about the only "perk" I guess. If she wants a stylish cruiser with a lil umph, then go for the 400.
  8. woo, the 250's are out and about now! ArmyofOne, my permanant residence is Dallas and although rare, I have seen 250's around. I always like to take note when I see one, such a little treat to find one in a parking lot somewhere, usually in very good condition. Grats on both you're buys and enjoy. :D
  9. lmfao...I bet he has a watch so jewel encrusted the hands cant tick...you know, to go along with the teeth
  10. Aside from some front end damage, the only real thing that was damaged was the radiator. The civic was easily totaled, however due to the low value of the LS, it was technically totaled as well.
  11. hehe, old LS400...bit of a boat, but it will beat the hell out of a civic if you get into a wreck. Heh...yea, sis defintely killed my LS that way...but you shoulda seen the other car ;)
  12. They probably use a kelly blue book or some such document to determine your payments. The little blue book said my old 91 LS400 was worth around 7k...a dealer laughed at me But I agree with chuck's quote, sounds about right.
  13. The only opinion that matters is your own, since you will be the one buying the car. My only advice, go down to your local dealer and test drive some cars, have a little fun toying with the sales person. ;)
  14. To slightly elaborate on the apples and oranges comment...they are two very different cars. I personally dont compare the two, but if those are the cars you are looking at then my suggestion would be to test drive both. You can read all you like about them, but the only way to really know is to drive it yourself.
  15. I dont know, but if this question has been asked that often Im sure it has been answered somewhere on the boards. Try using the search tool.
  16. I cant really comment on the plat vs. anniversary ed. but from what Ive seen thats a pretty good price. I just purchased a 96 for about the same price from a dealer in the Dallas area, but it wasnt gold edition etc. It had a few more miles on it than this 94. You might be able to talk her down some, but its a reasonable price for the car.
  17. In all honesty I think Acura has been struggling to compete for some time now. It almost seems that they peaked with the Legend (I loved that car...). However the new and "improved" TL looks as though it may bring Acurca back into the circles of Lexus and its competators. I dont even pretend to be well versed in the car industry, just an observer. Back in 91 my mom purchased her first LS400 in 92 my dad came home with a Legend. It was fun seeing those two in the garage together ;) Well...lets just say she now drives an 01 LS430 and he has an 02 GS300. I dont mean to bash Acura or its owners in anyway, Im just tossing in my 2 cents along with everyone else.
  18. personally, Id go GS over Maxima any day. Yes the GS might be a lil used, but its still a nice shiney lex that packs some punch. Even the 300 has some zip.
  19. Ive been scouring my local listings for a good deal and yours sounds pretty good. Miles are still relatively low for a Lexus, I know people like to take them up to 250k sometimes. Just as long as it is well maintained you should enjoy it alot.
  20. hmm...Im tryin to keep cost down, but a GS does sound nice
  21. hehe, I dont feel so young anymore...Im 18 First car: hand me down 91 LS400. Loan the car to your sis for a day and she runs into a civic. *sigh* So I guess Im in the market for another car.
  22. hehe, grats man. Sounds like you ended up with a good deal on a very nice car. The salesman trying to take away the CPO thing is just weird. I also thought that it was done before hand etc. Im still in the market for a new (new to me) ES300 so its only a matter of time before I can brag about my own :P
