  1. I would caution you that many of the aftermarket hitches don't look as nice as the factory hitch, mainly around the tailpipe area. I have the factory hitch and think it looks nice. It doesn't take much effort to install it, and the instructions are pretty easy to decipher so you can save yourself a few bucks there.
  2. From the latest Lexus magazine. I copied it here, so errors are mine. RX drivers, take note: The arrival of the next model, the RX 350 is near. The vehicle's elegant, compact body remains the same, but it now includes a larger 3.5 liter V6 engine that boosts the SUV's horsepower to 270. RX engineers also added new noise- and vibration-reduction components such as an acoustic glass windshield and extra sound insulation, and they enhanced the optional DVD Navigation System with Lexus' Generation 5 software, which, among other features, includes crisper graphics, voice-activated destination inputs, and a "bread crumbs" tool that allows drivers to retrace their steps. Also new: an optional 9 inch screen for the Rear Seat Entertainment System (RSES), as well as Mark Levinson DVD Surround Sound Audio (also optional).
  3. You shouldn't have to reconnect your phone every time you get in the car. I'm using a v710 with no problems connecting. You're stuck with using the 1 touch phone book (numbers only.. no names) to dial out.
  4. I have been using my son's ATT Sony T68i to transfer the phone book to the RX330. We recently cancelled the account and moved him to Verizon too. Last weekend, I needed to change the phone number on one of the phone book items stored on the car so I turned on the Sony phone and was able to transfer the phone book without having a active account on the phone. I did have the SIM card installed, and I was getting occassional SIM errors, but I believe that it might be possible to find an old T68i on eBay and buy it and use it to program your car.
  5. You can store one-touch phone numbers even if you don't have any phone book entries. You just don't get names.
  6. Actually I just took this whole thing apart this last weekend since I was installing my tow hitch wiring. The cover lid to where the jack is stored doesn't appear to have any secured latch. If you haven't figured out how to remove the cover itself (so you can re-attach it more securely or something), there are 5 or so pop snaps next to the part next to the rear seats. You can just pull up on that rear part to pop up the flap to get access to the bolts holding on the lid cover. Then you can figure out what you want to do with it. I was afraid to pull up on that part, thinking I was going to break something, but that part just snaps down with those plastic snaps and those snaps are made pretty well so I don't think you have to worry about breaking them. Of course, sending it to the dealer works too :)
  7. I don't think it's possible. I might suggest getting a list of compatible BT phones and then asking around for co-workers that might have one of those phones. Then ask to take them out for lunch in return for putting a few phone numbers into your car that you could then add to your one-touch. You don't have to be on the same phone carrier system for this to work. You just need a phone that lets you download numbers.
  8. In the case of my T68i, I transfered the whole phonebook all at once and then deleted the items on the Lexus phone book after it was done. I guess since some people have done it 1 number at a time, it must be a phone issue, and not the Lexus bluetooth.
  9. To answer my own question, I borrowed a Sony Ericsson T68i (ATT/Cingular) and paired to to my RX330, added some numbers to the phone book and then downloaded the phone book to the car. I then switched back to my v710 and now my one-touch can show names in addition to the phone numbers. My wife is very happy now that she can drive and not have to remember which one-touch numbers are associated with which phone number. So I'm a happier v710 user now. (and no reprogramming the phone firmware necessary) I'm hoping the new e815 will be even better when it comes out.
  10. I've already tried to update the phone with the latest software and couldn't, so I've given up. I even have the Motorola USB powered cable. I'm not going to screw with it anymore. It ain't worth it. In any case, updating the phone wasn't part of my question.
  11. I have a v710 bluetooth phone that, as many of you already know, works, but I can't transfer any phone book items to the car. One touch dialing works ok, but I was thinking that if I could get another phone to temporarily transfer numbers, then my problem with populating the phone book would be solved (.. at least the phone book problem anyway) I might be able to borrow someone's phone just to do this. The only problem I can see is if the phone book automatically gets erased when a new bluetooth pairing takes place. Anyone know if this is the case? Or if I'm missing something obvious here?
  12. What engine hesitation? We don't have any problems with our '05 330. Point here is that not everyone has the problem. After the bad writeups on the X3 by the car magazines, I knew that's one vehicle we didn't want. And I've owned 2 BMW's, so I really like them.
  13. You can have the dealer reprogram your remote to open the rear door with one touch (I suppose assuming the doors are unlocked, which can also be reprogrammed to work with one touch). We haven't done this yet, but it's on the list of things to do soon.
  14. The car is about 4600 lbs. I imagine you'd need a 6500 lb tow capacity on that. My Minnie Winnie only could do 3500lbs, so it wouldn't even be possible for me.
  15. I also mounted it in that area. There were 2 things that slowed me down; removing the light takes 4 screws and 2 were hidden (can't remember exactly but it was under the light?), and the other was finding the right wire for 12V ACC. But with a multimeter you'll find it. It was a while ago when I installed mine, so I don't remember the exact wire.
