  1. That's great Joe. Thanks for the feedback. Also thanks for the Customer number. Not sure why I hadn't found that yet. My prior 2001 Lexus ES300 was purchased in New Jersey at Cherry Hill, I think. It's still going strong. I get to see it about once a week. A friend bought it from me.
  2. yeah, worth trying out..at least we will finally have the answer I will reset mine after putting in 35 or 36 psi, and than test it to see where the threshold is, and if it is a fixed delta from the set point or a percentage Just be aware that the system only interrogates the transmitter on one minute intervals. So, with the engine running, let out a set amount of air, and then wait up to a minute to see if it triggers the warning light. Mine goes off all the time due to the spare as best that I can tell. BTW, I am not all that busy right now so I could make the trip to Japan. I even used to have a driver's license to drive in Japan (on the wrong side of the road). Since I'm old, radiation shouldn't have that much of an impact on my life expectancy. Plus I could research other items for the club as well. I have nuclear power plant experience so I should go with you. Getting new tires Monday and I will air all 5 to 30 psi and initialize my monitor, then will check with my digital gauge the moment the light comes back on. Testing the spare is a good idea though. Be interested to hear back from you guys. What tires are you getting? My best experience ever has been with Michelin Primacy. I know it's crazy, but whether or not my tires (Michelin Energy™ MXV4 S8) are worn out or not next summer, I will be replacing them with the Primacy. They have better traction, handle better, and are more comfortable. The last ones that I almost wore out got 56K. The S8's are pretty good, though. Primacy MXV4's H rated 215/55/R17 Sounds good to me!

  4. Thanks for the reply LexBob! The dealer told me that the 12.1 update was out, but not released. Sometimes I can get to the 12.1 page on Lexus.com, but most of the time when inquiring about the latest version, I am directed to the 11.1 page. It's possible that he could be correct on this one.
  5. James, I appreciate your detailed reply. Unfortunately, none of the service writers that have been there since 2003 when I 1st started going there. I do have a friend in Sales who recently started there. He promised me that I would never again find a better deal on purchases (I got a better deal by $2,700 + tax) from another dealer & this dealer had that price. Unfortunately, that doesn't get my GPS updated. Not sure who else to talk to. This new service writer also put the wrong oil in my car after a long discussion. This is not giving a very good comfort level with this dealership. BTW, the thumb drive that I was given after the "map update" has on the back DENSO LA437970020 00060000000496 Does that give you a clue what version this represents? Not sure if they installed the wrong version or they messed up the update. I just don't like telling me that everything is okay, when it is clearly not. One of the updates in 11.1 was in Autauga County, Alabama where I travelled to several times recently. I had to use an online map (And some personal directions) to get there the 1st time. Still, the directions given to the Mark I made were hit & miss. I just learned the area. Yesterday, I was directed in a very large circle (about 6 turns) near Atlanta. Then, it wanted me to go the same way again. Does this GPS have something personal against me? The wrong turn it directed me to was only .6 miles away from the correct turn which it didn't want me to take when I got there. Oh well, I made it home okay with the GPS off. Thanks again for your reply.
  6. Sorry that I bothered you with some "magic thing". Did you miss, That I was also driven into an SUV infront of me? That is when the whiplash happened. Just checked the revised cost, and it was over $10,000.00, nearly all of which was damage to the front end. In a way, I am happy I didn't have the airbags deploy. I know folks with some serious damge to their bodies from the airbags. BTW, does enform notice when you have been in a wreck? Or, does that require the airbags to deploy?
  7. On 6-8-12, I had the 20K service at my maintaining dealer for my 2010 ES350. I asked for the latest map upgrade. I was charged $169.00 for Part Number PT219-HDDG6-11 which is the Gen6 11.1 version of the North America map. I just took it back for the 25K service, and pointed out to the new service writer that my map data showed that I have 10.1 He said that he checked with someone in the Service Department, and they said I had the correct one. Now, I know that's baloney. I have been ripped off. They did give me an empty thumb drive w/ Lexus logo at the time of the supposed upgrade. Does Lexus have Area Managers where I can complain. My previous service writer (who I used for 7 years) was the Asst Service Manager, and we were always able to workout any problems. But, he was always straight with me. When I had Oldsmobiles, I got to know the Area Manager personally. Does Lexus have these? How do I find the one for Chattanooga? Thanks for any help! Charlie
  8. Elaine, In March 2012, I was rear ended at some substantial speed (I wasn't driving the other vehicle so I'm not sure what speed exactly). I am guessing that it was at least 35mph, probably more in 40mph zone. I was doing less than 10mph, probably less than 5mph. As I was slowing for stopping/stopped traffic, I glanced into my rearview mirror when I felt a collision. Thinking I had hit the car in front of me, I looked forward. I already had my foot on the brake slowing, and quickly stomped on the brake. I hadn't hit the full sized SUV in front of me, yet. But even with my brake fully on, I hit the SUV hard enough to drive it into the panel truck ahead of it. The driver behind me was clocking along in the right lane (which was about to merge to the left). She decided to merge without checking the traffic in the left lane and hit me on the right corner of my rear bumper. That was why I didn't see the car in my rearview mirror. The physical damage was a few dollars less than $9,000. I had a severe whiplash and hurt lower back. Seat belt was on, but curiously none of the airbags deployed. I was strapped to back board & rushed to ER. I was in such shock, that I forgot that I forgot about enform. Yes, I looked at the videos.

  10. I have a 2001 Lexus ES300. I had my timing belt changed at 90K. I asked about the water pump. He said that he could count the number of water pumps that have failed in all the years he's worked at that dealership (I've worked with him for 7 years) on one hand. So, i didn't get it changed. My water pump did fail. Then it failed again. On the 2nd failure, I did the reverse and went ahead and got my timing belt changed. The labor is the big cost, and that extended my next belt change out another 90K.
  11. You are not the only one with the problem, but who has the solution??? I have a new 2010 Lexus ES350 with less than 1k so far. It started out fine. Now in the last week, after hanging up, I get a "Phone call in progress" message on my Nav screen. I can't turn any audio on expect for guidance to destination on my Nav Map. I've tried everything I know to reset this problem, but can't find another solution other than turning the car off and back on. Please HELP someone!!!
  12. I don't think I even have 650 miles yet :) I like the xm weather. Mine has been spot on. Sat radio is cool, don't use stocks...that would cause me to run off the road and kill myself :) Sports don't use but I think I will keep the nav weather and radio not sure about anything else we don't have traffic around here. Smog sensor as sw said just go into your vehicle custom settings and adjust same with settings for outside and inside lights. Where did you go on your road trip S W ??? I had a crazy couple of days one of the companies I use had a meeting that they pulled one agent from each state so I went to represent MD. Only the east coast so there were 13 of us. Get this had to be on a plane at 7 to fly into Philly then had a layover get to Tampa Fl at 1:55 lunch started at 1:00. The meeting started at 2:00. Just about a 3 - 3 1/2 hour meeting then dinner and a few drinks then to the room by 9:40 which was at a 4 star historic place Don Cesaur or something like that. Get up at 5:00 am to meet the driver to take me to the airport to fly home. Wow...my wife was like how did you like Tampa? I said I didn't even see Tampa. Bad thing is my ear is killing me from the plane. Ok done with my rant Thanks for reminding me about the Don Cesar. I may just have to go thee on my next trip. It's also known as the Pepto Palace due to its exterior color.
  13. My 2001 ES300 supposedly uses regular gas. Never had a problem with it until the 10% Ethanol craze. Ping city. Now, I have to use premium.
  14. I have a similar problem. To get the ML audio system, you have to get the upgraded Navigation sytem, option VN. You can only get VN if you also have the UL option. In my area, you basically get three choices, Level I, Level II, or Level III. Those pre-packaged deals are mandated by the region. There are some exceptions that the dealers can order a demo that crosses some lines. ML doesn't com on one of those demos. Got a quote on a 2010 ES350 with UL/ML for $37,264 plus $599 doc fee. Is that in the range I should expect?
  15. Is there anything you don't know??? I made a slip in not stating that the car I looked at was a UL, but the salesperson wasn't sure if you had to buy both the Nav and the M/L or if they could be seperate. I don't want the UL and I wasn't initially impressed with the Mark Levinson. I wonder if with the use of some replacement speakers and a amplifier and small sub I already have in my 330, I could improve the 350 base unit to a respectable level. I found a website from Edmunds that is a chat board for current Lexus buyers. Most post show numbers just like you quoted. As recent as yesterday people had bought 350's for 36K to 35K and there from Phoenix, D.C. and Chicago. Living in a small metro area with only one Lexus dealer within 100 miles, the dealer has little incentive to bargin in an aggresive manner. The thing that is bugging me the most is even if I can get the price I need should I wait for the 2011 and end up perhaps getting a better deal on a remaining 2010 or get a brand new 2011. But, the 2011 probably wont have anything new to offer would it? And the beat goes on.... Thanks very much, Paul
  16. There for a minute, I thought that swapping thing might work for me. Unfortunately, my tires are 16 in and I plan on 17" in my next 2010 Lexus. On thing that might be of interest: When I purchased my 2001 ES300 (Company car) it had some brand new over sized (too tall) Kelly tires on it. They bottomed out and had zip for traction, and really handled crappily. I couldn't take it any more and bought some Primacy forerunners of the day. Being a tire snob, I checked everything I could about the new tires. Stock specs were for 205/60R16's, but those didn't look good to me. They looked a little wimpy. So, I went with 215/55R16's. The difference in turns per one mile is only 39. My GPS mph tracks exactly with my speedometer. With the lower profile and wider stance, the handling is so much better. If I have to take Bridgestones with my new ES350, I'll be looking to do something similar. Anyone else use anything other than the stock dimensions?
  17. Hi Steve, I did have the Bridgestones on my 2010 swaped for Michelins. However, the Michelins came off of my trade-in as they were almost new. Also, I had the Bridgestones swaped off the 2010 before I took delevery so they were still new. I know you have had your Bridgstones tires for awhile but they should be willing to prorate the remaing wear towards new Michelins since you are definately a disatisfied customer. Paul
