  1. You do good work, What do you use to seal the light fixture back up? Uhh, not really... I don't particularly care for the look, it's more of a BMW thing. <_< Plus i don't think they'd "work" in the RX headlights. I try to keep the "OEM" look too; if i were to have halo's in there, people would most likely think they were aftermarket.
  2. I would think the dealer would cover it despite the "wear and tear" clause, considering the pri$e tag and the fact it's a hybrid, which rarely uses the brakes in light driving
  3. try this http://truecar.com/index.html
  4. Is this when it's fully warmed up? We've had ours for only 2 weeks, it was in the 50's and 60's @ purchase I can say it does seem like it takes quite a while to fully warm up. By that I mean 15 minutes until it gets to where I get full advantage of the EV mode
  5. Just arrived today, I've got to say it was totally worth it. I can't tell if it is from the factory but it is very comprehensive nonetheless
  6. Just a wild guess here but I would think you would need a today date so it would serve as a reference to future performance. As said just using logic since I'm not aware of this feature on the 4ooh
  7. I wouldn't increase tire tire pressure too much, Not only will it adversely effect handling but it will wear the tires unevenly. I' thinking about the reverse sensors as well, that or maybe a more powerful reverse lamp. I back out of the drive early and it's tough to see. Odd that my Father in laws 2003 Oldsmobile had backup sensors but we don't! have you priced them yet and could you provide a link?
  8. Great post and I concur, How does one go about running the traction Bat down as you stated? Been trying my best but rarely does it get below 1/2 or so. As stated fro a vehicle this size and weight it's good to see anything over 20mpg much less 25-30. I niotice the "wife effect" as well. One more way we creatures differ!
  9. The concept used by the enginer unit is as you said to extend the abiltity of the traction battery by transferring power to the traction battery when needed. It is meant to be recharged at home through the grid however thereby increasing the efficiency. The results posted on the prius chat seem impressive although as stated they have a pure EV mode available by a switch hack, as I undertand it. I've been keeping my eye out for a battery pack for the RX but there is nothing in the offing at this point. Adding more batteries would tend extend the EV-only mode of operation but would also require a longer time to charge. The benefits are only realized with a new controller that maximizes the added storage. Since the RX uses a completely different controller than the Prius, that would be a new part that has to be invented/programed specfically for the RX, and likely different for the 2010 models.
  10. I read on the prius board a company called Enginer (sic) selling a realtively in expensive aux battery pack to boost the MPG and add more range in their "EV" mode. Since ours don't have a purely EV mode would this boost the MPG in hybrid mode? Any tech or engineer minded people look into this or am I the only one? http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-phev-plu...nformation.html
  11. All right that's what I like, I thought I heard about a dude using his prius to supply power during a black out. As a matter of fact there was somebody kicking around the concept of peolple plugging into the grid and supplying power back during peak usage. I'm a dreamer. It aint that bad ... if you know what you're doing ... or you're excelent at following directions. I'm in the process of pulling the 280 volt dc supply into an uninteruptable power supply, to use our hybrid as a back up generator, as demonstrated here: http://www.priups.com/prius-access/the-connection.htm but using it as a power source for an ebh? That wouldn't be near as efficient as the factory OEM designed to plug into house current. Yes, use the easy plug in version. And yes, SOME canadian dealers WON'T ship to the U.S. ... but that's simply lazyness ... it's not like it's illegal ... they'd simply like to stick it to you on the install / labor fees & a cheezy $60 - $70 bucks seems to be beneith a select few. We didn't find it to be an isse though. btw, monkeying with the traction pack doesn't void your warranty by default ... only as your potential warranty repairs apply to what you mess with. Example: If your block cracked due to metal fatigued & you were messing with the traction pack ... well, they're unrelated. In other words, warranty issues only apply to what you mess with. One of our hybrids is approaching 100K miles ... so the warranty issue is moot. (and that's why I waited this long to mess with the traction pack) ;) .
  12. Anyyone here ever order a shop manual? Just sent off for a cd manual from ebay. Probably not factory just wondering if anyone else has
  13. True thanks, I need to get used to thinking about these things, Like i said I'm new. Did you get the heater from the dealer or was it after market?
  14. Nice, thanks, that being said considering the hybrid battery is that much bigger you think it could be used as suggested? Anybody here have shop manuals or technical info?
