im trying to completly drain the anitfreeze from motor. I dont have a manual to refer but im confident in my ability to accomplish this task. i have found conflicting statements about the number of drains on the block, and have been successful in finding the one on the passenger side of the block but cant seem to find one on the other side. Is there 1 more? It seems like its too crowded to find a drain in the same place opposite the 1 i found. I even read that in line 6 motors use only one drain and its on the radiator, not lexus in line 6. Ive aslo been told and read that i could use the garden hose to flush the system. where do u put the hose should i take out thermastat to get max flush? I have a cracked head gasket and if the crack sealant mixes with antifreeze it says that gelitan is the result.I cant afford the mech. shop and im thinkin i can do head gasket but if i cant even flush fluid maybe not. Last thing can anyone tell me where to get a repair manual that is worth the money i will have to spend. ok ive rambled enough thanks for any help. When complete i will post the "how to" so it will be easier for other 1st gen gs300 owners.

This is the only code that came up when i used my obd1. The book states HO2S sensor/heater or circuit,ECU. I hate to sound lame but what does that mean? Where is the HO2S sensor? Is it the one just off the exhaust manifold? I need to get smog cert. and this is basically whats holding me up. Also can anyone tell me where i can get a repair manual for my 94 Gs 300. One that can help with this type of problem.

I put a ScanGauge II in my 2000 GS300. ($170 at ScanGauge.com - also available at AutoZone). Their web site shows it should work on almost anything 1996 and newer, but also shows it works on some 1994 Toyotas and a '94 ES300. If you are definitly OBD I, it may not work, but worth a call, as they have excellent support.
I mounted mine on the dash and use as a trip computer showing a variety of operational parameters. I also used it to read and clear a "Check Engine" light in my son's Firehawk.
Well i checked them out and they dont work on my 93 GS300 So now im still trying to find a OBD-1 Scanner.
I have a 94gs300 and i went to kragens and got one for $30. The instruction book came with code definitions and how to clear check engine light. Its nothing fancy you count the blinks of the airbag light to get the code but it works great, saved me alot of time and guesswork.

Of course it was as easy as i thought. The top nut comes loose and the fitting comes right out. Maybe i was being to cautious but i have seen to many problems come about because someone just started turning bolts.Ive got the ps pump to my 94gs300 almost removed except for the banjo fitting. I would greatly appreciate instructions on how to properly remove the dang thing. Im not sure of how and i dont want to mess anything up. Ive been trying to get instructions but nothing ive seen explains it so that i no were to start. -

My 94 Gs300 has been down due to overheating issue. That issue just about solved when bam, the power steering pump, pumps no more. I would greatlyappreciate any advice, tips, etc. on the removal of unit and flushing the old fluid completly . I had a friend help with overheating and lets just say that i am proud to be a lexus owner and i was shocked to see how easy some are to "make it work for now." there will be no jerryrigging or guesswork when repairing or replacing anything on my baby. It is so cool how helpful and sincere everyone is here at L.O.C. Thanks and Happy New Year to you.

Have you ever done coolant system flush?? If not do that right away, and replace you thermostat. Check the water pump and make sure its working. look at the upper and lower radiator hoses and see if they are cracked, blowted etc.... Good Luck!
I have not done the coolant system flush but it will now be at the top of my list. I will let u know how it turns out. Thanks!!

hey yall this is my first post and i hope someone can helpme. my 94 gs300 always runs the same temp. until a few days ago. it was a cool night but the temp gauge started to read hot, then hotter and back to normal. just before it read in the red zone i put it in nuetral and revved the motor. This dropped the temp down immediatly but went hot when back in drive. I attempted to use the heater to bring temp down but only got cold air until i put temp to highest setting. Just before this occured the smell of antifreeze was quite strong. There was no fluid leaking while running or when off. Now the normal temp is reading just higher on gauge than usual. The cold air while heater was on worries me. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
