  1. I have a 2004 SC430 and I must have hit an acorn on the road going 70 mph. The radio antenna got bent to a 60 degree angle, when I bent it back, the lower most section was deformed by the bend. I was able to reshape the metal as much as possible with a plier but the antenna would only retract to the first section and remained sticking out about 6 inches. Stupidly I knocked the last section into the well. Now the antenna goes all the way back in but I am afraid the lower section remains trapped inside. The radio reception is fine with the antenna not all the way out and it appears to rise and fall without making any excessive sounds. Will this damage the telescoping motor mechanism? Is the fact that the antenna is partially stuck allow any battery drain to the antenna motor? It seems to stop when it is fully out and fully retracted. What would it cost to have a repair?
  2. How does one wipe the interior rear windo on the SC430 with the wind deflector in the way???
  3. <<< Posted: Oct 28 2002, 07:01 AM I have now owned two SC430s. I have owned many cars my last being an Aston Martin. The SC430 is the smoothest car I have ever driven. However with the run-flat tyres on a slightly bumpy road it is a very hard car to drive and at speed those bumps make the car almost lethal throwing it from one side to the other. Once the run-flat tyres are removed (that’s what the Japanese do) and the restrictors are also removed (that’s what the Japanese do too) then you have the most awesome powerful sexy look at me car on the road, oh you have to change the exhaust system too its is just too quite on the manufacturers system. As for speed I have driven with the mods in excess of 200mph. Without the mods acceleration is slow but top speed is about 150 to 160 mph>> What are the restrictors, what do they do and how are they removed? What mods to the exhaust is he referring to? What tires are the best?
  4. Which are the best summer tires to replace the runflats with for the money?: So far from this forum I have narrowed it down to the following. May to October 1. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 245/45 17" vs 2. 195/55 R-15 Falken Ziex ZE512 vs 3. Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S November to April Snow Tires Firestone Blizzaks for the winter??? Which would be the best final solution? Since I haven't actually purchased the car yet, how can I convince the dealer to keep the stock runflats and put one of the above tires on at the get-go?????
  5. 1. Is there any truth to the rumor that an all-wheel-drive version of this car will ever be made? 2. There is a general concensus that this car cannot be driven even in a dusting of snow on the ground with the stock run-flat tires. Are there snow tires made for this car that will allow it to be driven with a reasonable degree of safety in the snow? How much do they cost and what would the service department charge to change and store the tires twice a year? 3. Why were run-flat tires that last only 12000 miles and take away the smooth ride that is a Lexus trademark be chosen for this car? This seems very impractical and expensive as a yearly cost for the average driver. 4. Are there other non-run flat tires that can be used? What type of tire will fit in the spare compartment in the trunk?
