  1. I have spent a fair amount of time searching about this on this forum and IH8MUD trying to find out what is necessary just to change the pads on my truck. Haven't been able to get a consensus, some say it is hard some say easy some say removing the calipers is necessary some don't, some say re-grease the piston some don't. Just wondering if there is a simple "how to" out there somewhere. I've changed the pads on my Volvo before and it was pretty simple, just assumed it would be similar here but the posts I am seeing are making me start to believe otherwise. Would appreciate any insights or info. Thank you.
  2. I'm guessing this has been covered before, but recently was told my entire exhaust system and manifold needs to be replaced. Contemplating upgrading to an aftermarket system, but not sure where to start, also does anyone happen to know of any good independent shops in or near Wilmington, NC? Thanks.
  3. eBay use to have this Jl audio replacement speaker rated at 75 watts & 8 ohms for $100. It has to be 8ohms. Anything lower than 8ohms would cause your stereo to shut down. A standard 8' 8ohm house speaker should do the trick. So I could buy this Kicker 8" 8 ohms sub http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20610C88/Kicker-10C88.html?search=Kicker+VENDORID206&tp=111 and put it in place of of the Mark Levinson sub and wouldn't need to make any other modifications to the amp or anything else??
  4. Yes, they both started making a rattling sound, but only on certain songs (which I assume corresponds to specific frequencies). I took it to a custom audio shop and they said it was blown. They recommended the same as you, I just hate to lose the trunk space to another sub.
  5. I have the Levinson system in my 2001 lx470 and installed a Parrot system. www.parrot.com. This is a bluetooth system for your phone and has hard wired integration for ipod. There are several different models depending on what you are looking for. I have spent a lot of time searching for a solution and this is the best one I have come across so far. Much better than the fm modulator. Will charge ipod, pause and turn it off/on with ignition as well.
  6. Cheapest actual Mark Levinson subwoofer I have found is at sewellparts.com. If you register with your user id to this forum you can get the sub for $380 I believe. I am pretty sure the sub supplier mentioned above only has the pioneer replacement.
  7. I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have gone through 2 Mark Levinson Subs in less than a year. I keep equalizer neutral and don't blast or anything crazy. Has anyone else had issues with Levinson sub, and do I have any other options for putting something else in that is a little more robust? Thanks for any and all help!
  8. I have recently noticed my car making a strange noise, it is a kind of whining/screeching noise that is barely audible at idle but at higher speeds increases dramatically. It becomes very noticeable above 2000 rpms. I thought it might be the fly wheel or belt but I looked and could not see anything really out of place and the belt seems to have decent tension. I literally just had it in the shop where they inspected it and changed the transmission fluid and brake fluid and said that everything else looked really good so I am not sure what this could be. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
  9. Thanks for the info. I was planning on installing the Parrot MKi9200. Also my biggest problem is accessing the head unit in the Lexus I have the nav screen and I'm not sure how to do it. Does anyone have instructions or pictures of how to get at that? I've installed similar systems in Audi and VW so I feel comfortable with that part I just am not sure where to start in terms of accessing things in my LX.
  10. I would like to install a Parrot bluetooth system into my LX470 and I was curious if anyone had experience with Parrot (is it a good system?) and if it was something I could install myself or would need to have done. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
  11. Is the 2010 Navigation update worth it? I did it in 2009 and was actually frustrated by the update because now I have to pick the region of the country before I search for an address. Any thoughts / experiences would be appreciated.
