  1. Greetings, Since wear out of tires leads to replacement, I searched for what options exist. The revs per mile differ among the 4 and 5 star tires offerred at http://www.tirerack.com/ They range from 731 to 739 , about 1%. I assume I can ignore this as long as I get the tires in a matched set. Anyone disagree? The site has Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Blackwall as the best seller. If everyone does their research, then I can assume it rates better than the others. Does anyone have a better suggestion if I want a good traction tire for all seasons, i.e. rain in winter and 110F and dry in summer? Sincerely, Bill
  2. We observed the possibility of the interferance when we first parked the 400h in the garage. A full size van, which the 400h replaced, had already made us aware of this possibility. We fixed the problem by cleaning the garage to remove some 4 feet of clutter in front of the 400H. Now we drive the 400h all the way to then end of the garage, which puts it beyond the reach of the door.
  3. Greetings, I often get just above 27 mpg on round trips to work with mix driving conditions and air conditioning turned on. About 22, less than 15 minute trips in town during 100 to 110 F temparatures and air conditioning turned on. About 30.2, round trips to work with air conditioning turned OFF. Best mileage occurs after first 5 minutes and driving 35 to 60 mph. Sincerely, BillT
  4. Greetings, What experimental results exist for different braking strategies? What strategies cause the best regeneration? What strategies cause the best mileage? What relevant literature exists? When I break moderately, the power meter dips part way into the blue. When I break hard, the power meter dips farther into the blue, but for a shorter time as the vehicle stops sooner. It seems reasonable to assume the batteries have a maximum charge rate, which means the regeneration has a maximum level. Past some point, braking harder will not capture more energy for charging the battery. I realize for some occasions you really do not have a choice about how hard to brake. However, for many occasions such as approaching a stop light or sign, you can start braking 500 feet down to 100 feet before you actually have to stop. For these situations I want to know what will give me the best overall mileage. Sincerely, BillT
  5. How exactly did you remove the rails? I'm all thumbs, so I could probably do it in, say, a half hour or so :) I have no use for the roof rack and would eliminate it all together if it would help reduce the wind noise.. ← The crossbars are easy to remove and install. The rear endcaps of the the rails are plastic. They snap off by sliding rearward. There is a set screw that prevents the crossbars from sliding off of the rails. Unscrew the set screw on both sides and the crossbars slide off the end. Replace the set screws and snap on the endcaps by sliding forward and down. Removal and installation is fast and easy. The trick is knowing how the end cap is removed. ← It might remove, but how? They do not seem to move rearward on a 400H. How hard do you have to move them? Where should you grab hold? Move them straight back or left up the very ends a little bit or a lot or how much?
  6. Can you change the paired phone while driving?
  7. Our family usually has 2 cell phones in the car at a time and might switch to bluethooth phones for the 400H . Can you switch between the phone with the 400h in motions? Any problems with 2 phones in the car at one time?
  8. Greetings, Just recieved the following email, which indicates the west coast has start recieving the demos. Sincerely, BillT HELLO, IT IS 12:30 MONDAY THE 18TH AND OUR FIRST HYBRID IS HERE. THE FIRST ONE WILL BE HELD FOR DEMOS ONLY. AT THREE TODAY WE CAN START DRIVING IT. ... Crown Lexus 1125 Kettering Drive Ontario, CA 91761 www.CrownLexus.com
  9. Greetings, The 400h that you will get, has a different sound system than the RX330. It has about a dozen speakers. I suggest you listen to it and decide for yourself whether or not it pleases you. Sincerely, Bill Thomas
  10. Arrived 6 April 2005 Not much new but something to read while waiting to actually get my 400H. Can the dealers limit themselves to MSRP+$650? Can a buyer say no to something like "Delux Body Prep $1200" ? Superior technology creates superior value. By now, you know that the Lexus RX 400h may be one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in the market. Which is hardly surprising, given that the next-generation gas/electric hybrid system offers a combined output of 268 horsepower and an EPA-estimated combined fuel-economy rating of 29 mpg [1]. However, what might have escaped your attention is what a superb value the RX 400h represents. In addition to the landmark hybrid performance, the RX 400h also comes standard with all-wheel drive, our new generation of vehicle stability control system known as VDIM [2] and an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT) that improves fuel economy and acceleration. The RX 400h includes a wide array of premium standard features, which are typically either offered as popular options or not available on the RX 330 and valued at more than $6,000. For example, every RX 400h comes standard with a navigation system with backup camera, six-disc CD changer and High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS). It also comes standard with our Premium Package, which consists of extensive leather trim, a power-tilt steering wheel with memory, roof rack with rails, illuminated entry system and one-touch open/close moonroof. Also unique to the 400h are the electrically powered climate control, electric power steering and Electronic Controlled Braking (ECB) system. With most cars, the climate control and power steering are powered by the engine, reducing performance and fuel economy. The RX 400h comes with unique design touches like a new bumper with wide intake and round foglamps, a new grille, LED taillamps, new 18- inch wheels and aluminum interior trim. With so many innovative features, so much technological sophistication and such refined styling--you'd expect to pay more than the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $48,535, plus delivery, processing and handling fees of $650. The Lexus RX 400h. While you may know a good value when you see one, there's nothing like the feeling you get when you actually drive one. (LEGAL) [1] EPA-estimated ratings: 29 combined/31city/27 highway mpg. Actual mileage may vary. [2] Lexus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether VDIM will be effective in preventing a loss of control. Please see your Owner's Manual for further details.
  11. I agree with your position on the rear DVD player. My luck, the one out of eight that comes with it will be the only one with my favorite color choice! We'll see ... ← Greetings, Does the rear DVD sound go into the car's sound system? If yes and you want to listen to a movie or a an audio DVD, could you do as well with a non-Lexus DVD player system? Sincerely, Bill Thomas
  12. A letter arrived from the Sacramento Lexus dealership dated 17 March 2005 saying, "MSRP WITHOUT read entertainment, $50700; WITH rear entertainment, $52540." This seems to confirm what gtfrench got from his dealership.
  13. Not likely. The US has an allocation of about 20000 . The buyers' list has about 12000. This would suggest about 7 months. However, the buyers' list has people just interested but might not buy a US$ 50000 vehicle, and also the list has double entries because some people have their names at multiple dealers.
  14. Greetings, I have included a press release. Items of interest: Confirmed MSRP $48535 includes RX330 options valued at $6000 MPG better than previous announcements. Highway 27, City 31, Combined 29 Sincerely, BillT :) Lexus Announces Pricing on the RX 400h Luxury Gas/Electric Hybrid SUV, As Well as Certified EPA-Estimated Mileage Figures Monday February 28, 11:00 am ET TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lexus RX 400h, the world's first luxury hybrid vehicle goes on sale April 15, with a base Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $48,535. Beyond its advanced gas/electric hybrid powertrain and new Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) stability control system, the base price includes a wide array of premium standard features, which are typically offered as popular options on the RX 330, valued at more than $6,000. ADVERTISEMENT "In the past, consumers may have wanted a vehicle that was kinder to our environment, but felt they had to make sacrifices in power, utility and amenities," said Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Denny Clements. "There are no compromises here. The new RX 400h is what luxury buyers want -- the complete package." The RX 400h incorporates a new, advanced Lexus Hybrid System that combines the 3.3-liter V6 engine found in the Lexus RX 330, with a high-torque electric-drive motor-generator, plus a rear electric-drive motor-generator to provide the security of all-wheel drive. With a combined system output of approximately 268 horsepower, the RX 400h delivers rapid acceleration with unexpected fuel efficiency. At 7.3 seconds, acceleration from zero to 60 mph is better than many V8-powered mid-size luxury SUV competitors. EPA certification of fuel economy ratings has now been confirmed. The RX 400h's EPA-estimated combined fuel economy rating of 29 mpg is better than the average for compact sedans and is an improvement over the previously reported number. Also better than earlier reports, highway fuel economy is EPA-estimated at 27 mpg, an improvement of 67 percent over the RX 330 -- already one of the best in its class. Finally, at 31 mpg, the city rating for the 400h exceeds most V8-equipped luxury SUVs by more than 100 percent. With the RX 400h, Lexus also introduces a new generation of vehicle stability control systems known as VDIM. This new system goes well beyond conventional traction and stability controls that simply react to challenging conditions. Instead, VDIM anticipates vehicle instability in virtually any direction and makes stabilizing corrections while allowing higher dynamic capability. In addition to the hybrid powertrain and VDIM, the base price includes: leather interior trim, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, roof rack with rails, illuminated entry system, a one-touch open/close moonroof, Lexus DVD navigation system with rear backup camera, six-disc CD changer, HID headlamps with the Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), electrically-powered air conditioning, new 18-inch wheels and an eight-year/100,000-mile battery and hybrid system warranty.
  15. Greetings, I think you meant "retune" rather than "detune". I believe Toyota retuned the engine for the higher RPM range at the expense of the lower RPM range, where the electric motors perform the best. Of course, we have to answer the question, "Retuned for what?" I would guess a combination of mpg and performance. I will not wait for the Atkinson as I want to replace a full size 20 year old Chevy van getting 13.3 mpg. Replacing the van has waited a year for the 400h inorder to get its improvements over the RX330. If I already had an RX330, I too might wait for the the next generation of the 400H. Sincerely, Bill

  17. Using the 400H Press release and First Drive postings, I get these for the EPA numbers. 9/0 L/100km = 26.1 mpg US highway 8.4 L/100km = 28.0 mpg US combined 7.8 L/100km = 30.2 mpg US city
  18. I have included the entire release because last time I gave just a URL, some people could not get it. Since this post does not exceed the size of many pictures posted here. I do not think its size will offend anyone. Some highlights: EPA numbers: 30 mpg city, 28 combined hybrid-related components are covered for eight years/100,000 miles. From URL: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050201/latu071_1.html TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Lexus announced the launch of the all-new 2006 RX 400h, the world's first gas/electric hybrid-powered luxury vehicle, which will go on sale in April 2005. Based on the RX 330, the best-selling SUV in the luxury category, the RX 400h delivers greater performance, improved fuel efficiency and significantly reduces emissions while sacrificing none of its luxury or utility. The first luxury vehicle to feature hybrid technology, the RX 400h incorporates a new, advanced Hybrid Synergy Drive system that combines the 3.3-liter V6 engine with a high-torque electric drive motor-generator, plus a rear electric drive motor-generator to provide on-road all-wheel drive capability. With a combined system output of approximately 268 horsepower, and more significantly, 3,500 lb.-ft. of axle torque at launch, the RX 400h delivers rapid acceleration with unexpected fuel efficiency. At 7.3 seconds, acceleration from zero to 60 mph is about 0.5 seconds quicker than the RX 330 and better than many V8-powered competitors. The RX 400h's estimated EPA combined fuel economy rating of 28 mpg matches the average for new compact sedans and marks a 33 percent improvement over RX 330 AWD. It also gains a 67 percent edge over RX 330 in city fuel economy. And its estimated EPA city fuel economy rating of 30 mpg exceeds most V8 and many V6-equipped luxury SUVs by over 100 percent. "The RX 400h will open a new era in luxury vehicles, setting a new benchmark for luxury SUV performance and environmental compatibility," said Denny Clements, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "It's truly a breakthrough in terms of hybrid technology because, for the first time, it adds an enhanced performance dimension to the widely known hybrid advantages of excellent fuel mileage and low emissions." The new RX 400h will become the premium model in the RX series, adding numerous standard features that are offered as options on the RX 330. The seamless power delivery of the hybrid powertrain will be another plus for the RX 400h, because it will feel even smoother than conventionally-powered vehicles. The RX 400h will be rated as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) in California (Tier 2 -- Bin 3 in other states), one of the most stringent emissions ratings in the industry. Externally, the RX 400h differs in subtle ways from the RX 330. The RX 400h features a revised grille, a new front fascia with additional air intake, sporty round fog lamps, unique 18-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Inside, brushed aluminum accents replace wood trim, and a power meter replaces the tachometer. The RX 400h will also include struts with internal rebound springs and linear control valves and feature specific suspension tuning for sportier handling. Lexus Hybrid Technology with New Electric AWD System The Lexus RX 400h is defined as a "full hybrid," which means that it is capable of operating in electric-only or gas engine-only mode as well as a mode that combines the power of the gas engine and electric motor. In contrast, other hybrid technologies are not capable of running only on electrical power, but instead require constant gas engine operation. The RX 400h uses a 3.3-liter V6 that is based on the engine in the RX 330 but with revisions to promote smooth integration with the hybrid system. These include revised calibrations to the Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems. In making the transition to a hybrid powertrain, the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and AC compressor are no longer engine belt-driven. This is because the gas engine often shuts down -- a fuel-saving benefit of the hybrid system -- especially when the vehicle is stopped or driven slowly through traffic. With the exception of the alternator, which is replaced by motor-generators, all components are now electrically powered which means notably lower parasitic losses to the engine and improved fuel consumption. The hybrid system uses a 288-volt DC Nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack that fits neatly under the rear seat. The battery's power is directed through a "boost converter" that efficiently raises voltage to 650V DC. An inverter changes this to 650V AC, providing its elevated power to a front-mounted 123-kW electric motor that turns as high as 12,400 RPM. Three motor-generators are employed in the hybrid powertrain. Known as MG1, MG2 and MGR, each have specific functions and each do double duty as both drive motors and generators (although MG1 is a starter and provides no motive force). The engine-driven generator (MG1) can charge the battery pack or power other electric motors as needed. Power from the gas engine and front electric drive motor (MG2) is distributed to the drive wheels via a planetary gear-type continuously variable transmission, which eliminates specific gear ratios. Two planetary gear units are used in the system. The Power-Split unit divides the engine's drive force two ways: one to drive the wheels and the other to drive MG1 so it may function as a generator. The Motor Speed Reduction unit reduces the speed of MG2 and increases its drive torque, significantly boosting acceleration performance. In addition to its motor-generator duties, the crucial MG1 adds two functions: One as a starter motor for the gas engine; and two, by regulating the amount of electrical power it generates (which varies its RPM), MG1 controls the output speed of the transaxle through the planetary gear set -- without clutches or viscous couplings. This is one of the keys elements of the hybrid powertrain and is why RX 400h eliminates the "shift shock" that can typically be felt as even the most refined modern automatic transmissions change gears. In conventional AWD vehicles, the weight and friction of the additional drive components reduce the vehicle's acceleration performance compared to the same model with 2WD. Not so with the RX 400h. The innovative electric AWD system employs a separate 50-kW electric motor (MGR) at the rear that provides up to 650 lb.-ft. of additional drive torque on demand. The system electronically varies front and rear torque distribution depending on traction conditions. The Lexus hybrid technology also allows extended electric-mode operation during low speed or stop-and-go driving conditions. The permanent-magnet front electric drive motor (MG2) produces peak torque from zero-to-1,500 RPM, giving the RX 400h powerful and instantaneous response that will be especially felt and appreciated in low- and mid-speed performance and in merging and passing maneuvers. A regenerative braking system further boosts system efficiency. When the RX 400h is coasting or the brakes are applied, the electric motors function as generators, capturing kinetic energy that would normally be lost as heat through the brakes and transforming it into useable electricity to recharge the batteries. Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM) With the RX 400h, Lexus also introduces a new generation of vehicle stability control systems known as Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM). This new system goes well beyond conventional traction and stability controls that simply react to challenging conditions. Instead, VDIM anticipates vehicle instability in virtually any direction and makes stabilizing corrections while allowing higher dynamic capability. A vital component of VDIM is a new Electronically Controlled Braking system (ECB). The ECB system translates brake pedal stroke speed and pressure and generates the precise amount of combined electric regeneration and hydraulic pressure needed for virtually any driving condition. Under guidance from VDIM, such precise brake control at individual wheels allows more optimized operation of the vehicle's dynamic handling systems that employ the brakes: ABS, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control (TRAC). VDIM also interfaces with the Electronic Throttle Control system, allowing it to modify vehicle power when needed, and a new Electronic Power Steering system (EPS) to optimize steering assist for each situation. The EPS uses a DC motor and gear reduction system built into the steering gear housing to provide steering assist. This compact unit contributes to fuel economy by eliminating the traditional power steering pump and by providing its computer-controlled assist only when called for by the driver. EPS also allows a more precise and timely control of steering assist than conventional engine-driven hydraulic systems. VDIM constantly calculates vehicle motion based on signals from a yaw rate and deceleration sensor, speed sensor and steering sensor. Using these inputs, VDIM controls all of the vehicle's dynamic handling systems and can employ them collectively and seamlessly, allowing it to quickly detect the onset of instability and correct it. The ability to operate 'proactively' means that corrections to vehicle attitude are typically faster, more accurate and more subtle than traditional systems, making VDIM feel smooth and essentially transparent to the driver. Coupled with the natural security of all-wheel traction, VDIM dramatically enhances the RX 400h's dynamic qualities and maximizes its performance capability, driving pleasure and safety. Driving the RX 400h All of the comfort and luxury found inside the RX 330 is present in the RX 400h, with a few notable additions. The brushed-aluminum accents lend a contemporary look and the view of the instruments has evolved: In place of a traditional tachometer, the RX 400h has an illuminated power meter that displays the level of power generated by the hybrid powertrain. The driver can also monitor the gas-electric power distribution on the multi-information display or on the optional navigation system's seven-inch touch panel display screen. One of the most remarkable attributes of the RX 400h is how similar this SUV is to its cousin, the RX 330. The computer-controlled powertrain seamlessly blends power from the V6 gasoline engine and the electric drive motors. The generous combined torque of the engine and electric motors makes city and highway driving effortless. The result is less need to rev the engine for power, which translates to a relaxed and quiet, yet responsive and powerful driving experience. With the confident blend of all-wheel traction and VDIM, the RX 400h makes short work of challenging roads and conditions, yet provides an unexpectedly sporty driving experience with a quiet and comfortable ride. A Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle The RX 400h has been certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV), California's most stringent gasoline vehicle emission standard. It's one of the first luxury vehicles to achieve this strict standard, producing about 90 percent fewer smog-forming emissions than typical new vehicles. The RX 400h is also certified as a zero evaporative emission vehicle in California and those states adopting California standards. In states not adopting California rules, it's certified to Tier 2 -- Bin 3 emission levels. Comprehensive Safety Systems A high-strength cabin design and comprehensive supplemental restraint system are designed to help provide a high level of crash energy management for the occupants. The Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS) include advanced front airbags for the driver and passenger, a knee airbag for the driver and front seat-mounted side airbags that are designed to help protect the torso, abdomen and pelvis. The technology behind the front airbags takes into account several factors, such as crash severity, passenger weight and driver seat position on the seat track. Side curtain airbags are designed to help offer additional crash energy management for the front and rear seat occupants. A rollover sensor signals the side curtain airbags to inflate if a predetermined threshold of vehicle tip-up is detected. The RX 400h includes the safety of several visibility-enhancing technologies. The windshield and front side windows feature a water-repellant surface that helps to bead rainwater. A rear back-up camera, part of the available navigation package, is mounted near the top of the license plate surround and projects a color image of what the camera lens can detect behind the vehicle onto the navigation screen when the vehicle is in reverse gear. Rain-sensing windshield wipers and High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights are expected in this segment, but Lexus goes further with the standard Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) that helps illuminate a turn or curve as the driver steers into it. Lexus Luxury and Impressive Utility The RX 400h provides virtually the same interior versatility as the RX 330. The large rear cargo capacity of approximately 38 cu. ft. expands to nearly 84 cu. ft. with the rear seatbacks folded down. The rear seatbacks feature a versatile 40/20/40 split design, and the seat offers both sliding and reclining adjustments. An automatic-retracting tonneau cover adds a measure of security and convenience to the cargo area. Lexus craftsmanship and renowned attention to detail provide true luxury by design. Dual-zone automatic climate control and a 10-way power front driver seat with memory (eight-way power for the passenger seat) highlight the front cabin. The three-spoke steering wheel features easy-to-use controls for the audio system, trip computer and multi-information display in the speedometer. It also adds a voice control switch for the available navigation system. An auto-dimming rearview mirror with an integrated digital compass is standard, and both exterior mirrors are auto-dimming and heated. Additional standard luxury features include a sliding center console, a power rear liftgate, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel with memory, a one-touch power moonroof and an illuminated entry system that lights the door handles, scuff plates and front foot wells. The integrated Homelink® transmitter can control a variety of compatible home security devices and systems. Luxury extends to the smallest details in the RX 400h, such as adjustable lights in the visor vanity mirrors and illuminated front cup holders. The RX 400h is easily equipped for entertainment on the road. The available Mark Levinson® audio system features 11-speakers and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. The rear passengers can enjoy an optional factory-installed rear seat DVD entertainment system with individual wireless headphones. Enhanced Navigation Capability The available DVD navigation system features Lexus' latest technology that expands the system's capability and improves performance. The system provides multi-language selection and very fast route calculation (about five seconds). Voice activation makes operation easier and more intuitive than ever. Map modes with easy-to-understand graphics show freeway exit information, an intersection guide, upcoming exits (a benefit if the driver passes an intended exit), points of interest at the exits and a compass. System functions include multi-route calculation, route preview, simplified highway junction graphics, and a dual-map screen mode. The DVD map database contains more than five million points of interest (POI). The database for Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and New York features "building footprint" graphics, which shows 3D renderings of buildings in their locations. This feature can be useful for identifying buildings and their surroundings. The Lexus Navigation System integrates Bluetooth® wireless technology. When combined with a Bluetooth equipped phone, this global wireless technology allows the driver to transfer personal phone books to the navigation system and make hands-free phone calls through the navigation system's touch-screen control panel. As with all Lexus vehicles, the RX 400h comes with a 48-month/50,000-mile basic limited warranty with roadside assistance for 48-months/unlimited miles. Powertrain and restraint system coverage is provided for 72 months/70,000 miles. Corrosion perforation protection is covered for 72 months, regardless of mileage. The hybrid-related components, including the HV battery, battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter with converter, are covered for eight years/100,000 miles.
  19. April 15 has appeared as the date for months now. A recent aritcle said March, which I thought the author had stated in error. Do you have a URL or other reference for the March 15 date? (I really want to know. I do not mean to challenge you or argue with you about this.)
  20. Greetings, The Sacramento CA dealer sales Associate sent me a letter saying nothing we of this forum did not already know. I called him for more information. He said he expected to have a show room 400h arrive in February. We probably could not drive it, but at least we could look at it. He hopes it will have a window sticker showing the options and price. Sincerely, Bill Thomas
  21. If you plan to keep this car for 10 to 20 years, buy an RX330 with everything. In 10 years the average car will have the same stuff as your RX330. To avoid regrests, check the RX 400H, which goes on sale 15 April 2005. You might or might not want to spend the extra money for the hybrid. Checking it now will save you regrets later. I try to keep my vehicles for 300000 miles and 20 years. Most people do not do this. Do not take my advice as instructions for you. The Lexus vehicles have very high reliablility, which makes the cost of ownership much less than for many other cars.
  22. Keep checking URL http://sacautoshow.com
  23. The Lexus Representitive at the show gave it to me after I had asked about explicitly about the 400H. I have not seen it anywhere else.
  24. No new information appeared at the Sacramento Auto Show. I did get some clarification about what Lexus has already stated in their announcements. The evaluation for mileage has started this month, November, and we should hear the results soon. The term "pre-sales confirmed orders" refers to the people who have paid deposites. Because of the demand, Lexus has ordered dealers to stopped taking deposites. People can now only get on the waiting list referred to as the "wish list". If you have paid a deposite, they consider you one of the really early persons, and therefore likely to actually to get a 400H. They have not yet started telling people when their personal car will arrive. The U.S has about 200 Lexus dealerships, who wil get a total of 9000 400H for model year 2006, or 45 for each dealer. Lexus has ordered people to stop saying the the 400H costs up to $4000 more than the RX330. According to the show person, this means it can cost more than $4000 extra. Extra information. The sound from the rear entertainment system can go through the audio system while the car moves. The video can not. In other words, you do not need head phones to listen to a DVD moving while the car moves. The new 5 inch by 9 inch white brochure feels like leather. More wood will appear in models made after the first production runs. The first ones will have a hi-tech metal look.
