  1. I've had the side panels out on an older LX450 I used to have, they are snap-in connectors (fairly easy to remove if you use the right tool). Do you have the Mark Levinson audio system, in my opinion I wouldn't do anything aftermarket if you do. I've been down this road. Its a stange ohm speaker but cant remember what it is....like 12? Normal speakers are 4 or 8 typicaly. We tried an 8 and it didnt work. Finally bought a factory sub used and worked fine. Long story short dont bother with aftermarket. Theres nothing available in the right ohms. The replacement itself is very easy. Remove plastic skid plate on floor near tailgate. Remove screws to pull out side panel and I believe you have to unbolt the left rear seatbelt but thats easy as well. Takes 15 minutes total start to finish.
  2. Don't know, but maybe you can borrow someone's disc to see if that could be the problem? I think my "gen" is different from yours... Thanks for your reply. If I need a new unit as mentioned, can you help? How much? Is it easy to install? Just search past threads. There is a shop that repairs the factory dvd unit located under the passenger seat for around $400. You will have to remove it and ship it in but they are legitimate and quick.
  3. I have a rebuilt Mark Levinson subwoofer for sale, sounds like new. $150.00. Could you email me with your email so I can ask a couple questions about it? I am not familiar with rebuilding a speaker, could you explain? Are you a dealer? kirkwoodproperties@sbcglobal.net Thanks, Scott
  4. Its apparantly a 6.5" speaker but its 12 ohm which is strange and hard to find. Stealership wants $500 for a new one. Anyone know of an aftermarket option? Thanks
  5. Had similar problem with my 2000 LX. Dealer replaced seal around RHMSL(Rear High Mount Stop Lamp). Water was traveling through the light down the trim and onto my rear cargo carpet. Mine was under warranty so they replaced it free. Has that fixed the problem? I am having the same problem with my 2004 lx-470. The rear carpet was very wet so I took apart the carpet to the bare steel panel and found out that the water accumulated underneath the base panel (there are two small holes on the right and left side where I can put some form of tube and vacuumed the water out from the wide base panel below). I live in Seattle where it rains a lot and during the rainy season, I can hear the water slide from one side to the other when I make a sudden turn. I took it to the local dealership and they do not have any idea as to the exact cause of the problem. Any comment on what needs to be done as to the cause and fix will be appreciated. I had the leaking tail light issue and although some of you may have newer 470's with low miles and this solution might not sit well with you, mines got 115,000 and I just used some clear silicone right around that top middle light and problem solved. You can't see the silicone unless you really look for it.
  6. If you scroll down just a few posts theres a thread on this already with a link which contains drawings and schematics on exactly how each part is removed. In general, clicking through a few pages will usually uncover answers to questions you have which someone already posted.
  7. EDIT---- PROBLEM SOLVED ITSELF SOMEHOW. NAV IS NOW OPERATING THANKS. 2002 LX470. Initial issue was the "no disk detected" on the navigation. I sent off the nav DVD unit and had it repaired (good advice from this forum). Upon restart the map now functions and the vehicle is displayed properly on the map but I am unable to input an address or access other menu options. Rumor has it there may be a specific procedure and sequence for plugging in the several wiring connectors to the DVD unit....such as first antenna then something else then power??? Anyone know if this is true and if so what the proper sequence is? Or will disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for a specific amount of time help? Thanks.
