2000RX3

Just got back from Lexus, they hooked it up to the computer and said again that it was NOT the O2 sensor, but in fact the MAF was bad. I took it out to look at it again and to my surprise it was quite dirty, but not where I had cleaned it before. The two small filaments were filthy, the first time I actually saw those. So those hand held diagnostic tools are maybe to generic to tell the root of the problem. well at least I had the chance to drive a RX330, very nice!

I found the warranty on pg. 23 of my owners manual supplement, there are quite a few items covered including: throttle body, fuel pump,ECM, intake manifold, catalytic converter, ect. For what is worth my MPG has droped from 19.5 to 18.5 with the check light on.

I believe it has always done this, as long as I have owned it since 50,000 miles, the original owner took very good care of it (all the scheduled maintenance at Lexus w/ documentation). I had the fluid changed at a Lexus dealer, they did a complete flush and refill, cost 230.00. I (without knowing any better) added ATF +3 when it was low, but the mechanic at Lexus scolded me and did the fluid change. The +3 was in there for about 300 miles or so, not too long to cause any damage I hope. Thanks for your help :cries:

I own a 2000 RX300 with 65,000 miles, my question is about transmission operation. When I am going any speed and let off of the gas for a second (enough time for the RPM's to drop) and when I get on the gas again (sharply but not enough to down shift) there is a "padded jerk" the best way to describe it. I recently had the fluid changed, so that’s clean. The reason I am so concerned is because of the horror stories associated with the RX tranny. The warranty is coming close, is this something to have looked at?? Or is it normal??

Thanks for all the input, I looked at my warranty info and found that my "Bank One Sensor" is covered for 8years/ 80,000 miles. So I have no problem getting the sensor replaced, but is there a way af getting around the 90.00$ fee for hooking is up to their diagnostic computer?

I own a 2000 RX300, the check engine light comes on every once in a while, I have had it checked at Lexus and they said it was the mass air sensor, but the mechanic told me to clean it with carburetor cleaner and that would fix it. Well the light is on again with less than 4,000 miles after cleaning. So could it be the MAF is in fact bad, or could it be a O2 sensor. The code reads "BANK ONE RUNNING LEAN" PLEASE HELP!! VERY FRUSTRIATING!! :cries:

When I drive slowly there is a slight creeking sound heard from the wheels, all of them. It only happens on at a certain part of the revolution, not the entire revolution...anybody else??

When the the car is cold, the headlights flicker as well as the interior lights? could it be the alternator, or is this normal in cold weather, 35 degrees

I have the same problem with my rear passanger window, they used a dull razor blade to remove the sales sticker. I had the front windows tinted and the salesmen told me that the window it self is scratched, not the tint, thus, not repairable. If you read in the manual it says to wash them with any type of cleaner, with ammonia. This is not usually not possible with normal tint, since it would remove the tint. This is only what I was told.

I have had my MIL coming on a couple of times, every time it is the same, P171 I think, Bank one running lean. This only happens when I go from my elevation 7500 to sea level, could this be it?

I own a 2000 rx300, I went to check the brakes and to my surprise my impact wrench didnt have the power to remove the lock nut, took it to sears to have them do a tire balance and all they did was destroy my lock nut socket! any ideas?

WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR OR DRIVE OVER A SHARP BUMP A TIC IS HEARD. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS COMING FROM THE SOUND SYSTEM, BUT THEN IT MADE THE SOUND WHEN THE KEY WASENT EVEN IN. I AM A PERFECTIONEST SO THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING? <_<

i have a 2000 rx 300 with 60,000 miles on it, the check engine light came on, went to a lexus dealership and they said i needed a new MAF, they call it something fancy though. Thay said it wound cost around 500. $ to fix, I talked to the mechanic and he told me to spray carberator cleaner on the MAF, said it happens alll the time, no need to replace the MAF. problem fixed.
