  1. IMO the exhuast set up is a bit over price. You should do Magnaflows exhaust with 2.5" X pipe and get better sound and hp gain. Go to Magnaflows.com and check things out first. It should be cheaper than this set up.
  2. Go to lextreme.com and do some searching. But I can tell you that you will need to have a fat pocket ready because force inducting SC400 is not cheap.
  3. If you experience some lag that is normal. Our car is pretty heavy and if you have an auto then its hard to get your wheels to chirp. Our tranny power delivery is really smotth. You really can't expect it to perform like other sports car. Unless you have force induction or a 5sp SC300. Its pretty hard to make the Tire screeching. You can try to turn off the trac control Hold the Brake as hard and you can and rev up to about 2500 RPM if you can before letting go of the brake then you might be able to hear something. I'm NOT SURE OF THIS. PWR ECT is Electronic Control Tranmission. When its on it will make your car Rev alittle higher and longer. Plus it downshift faster, so you can move faster. You should feel it kick alittle more when you turn on PWR ECT and turn OD off.
  4. You dont need to seal off the under the head lights. You suppose to keep it open to have air come in. Better yet make a snorkel for it so the air will come up into your air box. Plus is you pop the front panel cover in back of the bumper open?? It used as a big air duck. That is why you need to cover the battery side to have the air going to the air box direction. BFI would work best if the air is cold like night driving and on High way. Also put in K&N filter or TRD air filter and you will definitly feel it more. I'm attaching some pics to help explain what I mean. I hope this help answer your question.
  5. I say 97+ is a good year for SC400 becuase of the extra hp and the new body style. I like the 98 year the most because its pretty hard to fine one. But that is just my preference. Pricing is vary on condition of the car and milage ofcourse. But I think your 95 230K miles sc400 still have many good year left. I'm close to 200k miles and it still running strong. Why dont you just drive until the the engine die and put in a new one IMO.
  6. First off does your headlight goes dim or sometime flashes off and back on again when this happen? Usually when you accelerate? If this does happen then it sound like you have a bad Grounding in your car. You need to get or make your own grounding cables and connect it through various points of frame in the engine bay. Cuz usually the aging ground cable does not conduct well anymore due to rust or other stuff. Just make new grounding points to help stablize the electrical current in our car. I hope this help. Good Luck.
  7. Great mods. I love the set up. Do you notice any extra power gain from it??
  8. I got the JIC STB for 160 at importfan.com along time ago. But you can get yours at http://luxurymods.com/ProductList.php?CatID=14&fid=1019 . Its alittle cheaper.
  9. There are 2 of them. One located near the thermostat and the other one located near AC compressor. See attachment, I circle it red and good luck with the trouble shoot :)
  10. As far as I know there are no performance chip for our ECU. The next best thing is a piggy back. As for CAI there is Injen intake system. But BFI still the best way to go IMO.
  11. Check your ignition coil plugs. Clean it with cleaning solvents and dry it before putting it back. If still doesn't work try to take out all of the electrical plugs or sensor plugs that looks dirty and clean it. This method works for me and i hope it works for you. Other wise it could be your CAT that gone bad. Good luck.
  12. I don't think there is any draw back from this except having to cut up your stock intake box. Here is my own version of BFI with the Injen intake pipe and air scoop(well thats what i called it :D ).
  13. Try here: https://www.automedicsupply.com/catalog4.ph...3836e4202828619 I think it is much cheaper than dealers. All you have to do is put it on yourself. Hope this help.
  14. I think you have to take the whole lense to replace the bulbs. Its not that bad or hard to do it IMO. Just some combination wrench should do it.
  15. 35 tires are thin and they ride stiff, especially with the drop i'm having. But on the other hand it look good and give great performance IMO. You can run on 40's if you like, it just depend of preference. 18's are good and look really nice if you go really wide. You can put thicker tires on 18s and get a nicer ride, if that is what you are looking for.
  16. Go here: http://www.lextreme.com/timing.htm it have 2 good tech article on changing timing belt along with other stuff. You can also go to the product section if you want to order a new timing belt. Lextreme can get you a good deal. I hope this help, good luck.
  17. here's mine: 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 Hp evo with 245/35 front and 275/30 rear.
  18. Did you turn OFF the AC then the car stalled?? Cuz if your do its a common thing for our car.
  19. You can also try Supra 93-94 control arm. It would fit on the sc4 but ride alittle stiffer. The good thing is that it is much cheaper than the lexus control arm. I ordered a pair for only 400, this is a special deal from my friend that work at a toyota dealer. But the regular price should not be that much more I think.
  20. You can also check Clublexus.com forum classified for these things. Some time it turn up.
  21. As our car is getting old and so does the head lights. Being expose to the elements the seal around it can no longer stand the water pressure being shot at from the hose when washing car or from rain. So water seep inside it and you have moisture and condensation. The best way to do it is the old bake it in the oven and take the lense out clean it and reseal it. But it's kinda hard if you don't know what you are doing and might risk of breaking your lense. The next way is to take your head lights out and use a hair dryer to blow hot air into it or put a heat lamp next to it until all the water evaporated. Wait until it cool and use GOOD Clear super glue and slowly go around the edges all over the lights and hope that did the trick. The last way is to replace new lense, which is very costly but nice. Also, when washing car try not to spray water directly at your lights since there might be mirco fracture on your lense caused by exposure to heat over the years and the water might get in that way.
  22. I had this problem a while back. Here is how I solved mine, hope this help you out. Check the wire plugs that connects from the cap and rotor assembly to the Ignition coils. There should be 2 of it. One located near the thermostat area and the other is near the AC compressor behing the drive belt. Check those plugs, clean them witch solvents, dry, and put it back. If that doesn't work try to open up all the electrical plugs you can see when infront of the engine, even the Radiator sensor. Last unplug the ECS fuse I think. It should be a Green 30 Fuse located in the fuse box of then Engine compartment NOT inside where your feet is. Leave it unplug for 20mins and then put it back. It should reset ECU and stuff. Good luck
  23. TEIN Basic gives you a pretty good ride and ofcourse more firmer than stock but over all good ride. The Basic can only be adjust height, the FLEX and CS can adjust height and Dampening. So Flex and CS is an excellent choice if u have the money, since you can a soft and lowered ride of your choice. Down side is that it cost alot. Most people would get the Basic since it cheaper and ride quality is fine. You also could get Tokico Illuminas Adj 5 set from the MKIV supra which fit perfect on our cars. It give you about a 2" drop front and 1.5" rear. Really slam your car and give u Dampening adjustable. I hope this help. Good luck
  24. I got my SC4 when I was 17. But I help my dad fix cars since I was 10 and do it as a hobby. I was really happy I got my car. Anyways, it depend on how responsible the kid is and how he can take care of the vehicle.
