Crazy come up from working on the car for a neighbor during the plandemic. Just like to say hi and start helping where I can here, been a tech for over 15 years professionally, 26 cars owned probably more including bikes. Hope to help out and be helped if inrum into some issues here on this new venture. Hope to add an air ride system in the future, tint, visors, etc. Who knows..

  2. You help your way, I will help my way. If you check my posts on here you will find all of them are technical and helping answer other people's questions. The vast majority, like this question, are questions posted by first post members, who ask one question, get the answer they need, never come back to even bother to say thanks, let alone add any value to the group later on. If you don't think my answers add value, feel free to put me on ignore but don't tell me how I need to help.

  3. Typical, new member, one post, never comes back, no thank you for the info. Pretty common pattern on this and other car forums. They wonder why newbies have a hard time getting an answer.

  4. This car has been sold. I would take it down if I could figure out how to do that!

  5. They have been made by Aisin for decades and Japanese producers do not switch suppliers easily at all. Long term relationships are how they run their businesses. I would assume they made them for those too.

  6. 32 years old, your mechanic is spot on. New belt, water pump and tensioner. You can buy the complete kit, OEM Aisin parts, from Rock Auto for a good price. Your mechanic will charge you about 8 hours for the job. Plugs should be fine, but i would do coolant, oil, filter and brake flush just becuase of the age, unless you know when they were last done. A few treatments with in tank injector cleaners and a then new fuel filter would also be a good idea.

  7. Just got a new to me UX250h. It's a whole new learning curve. Looking forward to see and learn about other people's experiences with their car.

  8. The key is in the owner's manual wording. Is 91 octane fuel recommended or required? If it is required, you should not use anything else. If a safeguard like a knock sensor malfunctions, the result could be engine damage. Costco has good fuel prices for premium. That's what I use in two of my cars that require that grade.

  9. I just did an install of a Metra kit on an RX300. This has the capability to include backup camera, navigation, and of course the climate control is also included. The deftails are in this video. We went with Metra because it is a known name in this space - not some AliBaba special. They produce similar kits for other Lexus vehicles with similar setup of climate control/navigation/stereo.

  10. Yesterday upon starting my RX300 (2000, 75K) after a 10min shopping stop, the LCD panel stopped displaying radio, air and cruise info but maintained clock. I drove home (~20min) & stopped/started the vehicle 2x & LCD returned to normal. Then, this morning, upon starting it took about 2min of running before the radio, air, cruise info came back - closk always stayed consistent & bright. I’ve read through many threads that discuss LCD bleed, which this doesn’t seem to fit problem and recommendations for head unit replacements on older models. I’ll look at the fuses tonight as a suggestion. If it was a blown fuse though it would be completely out…. At least that is what I figure. I thought I throw an inquiry out there if anyone else has ever heard/seen of this issue & possible fixes (if in fact it isn’t a fuse). Thanks for any suggestions!

  11. PIONEERSUBY was last active on this forum on Aug 24 2014 so I doubt that he will see your request. I doubt that an OEM navigation system from 2002 would be desirable since annual map updates for the generation 2/3 system were discontinued in 2013. IMO, a portable GPS unit like a Garmin provides better navigation and Bluetooth hands free phone that even the newest Toyota/Lexus systems. If you really want an in-dash nav, aftermarket is the way to go but it will cost far more than a portable Garmin.

  12. Does the car have nav? I'd assume no, because i'm pretty sure the back-up cam comes with nav.

  13. I just hit the rocker switch on the drivers door (I never take the fob out of my pocket). Another option is to hit the button on the exterior door handle. And, it's not possible to lock the fob inside the car....if you attempt to lock the door, you get a long beeeeep and the door remains unlocked. You can however lock the fob inside the trunk. But since it's within close proximity to the car, you can unlock the truck with the exterior trunk button and get the fob out. Hope that helps.

  15. I have this problem too and I have researched it extensively. The leak is not what it seems. If you open your sunroof you can see a small hole at each corner. These holes are connected to drain tubes that can come loose. When the rear corners are loose it leaks to the rear floorboards and when the front corners are loose you get water on the speaker/floor. When the fronts are loose water runs over to the top of the windshield and then down the INNER acoustic door seal (not the seal you can see from outside the car) before finally dripping next to the speaker and onto the carpet. It looks like its a door seal problem or a windshield seal, but I would check the sunroof first. The fix is to take the headliner out and re-connect the drain tube from inside the car. Not as easy as it sounds. I have not been able to find any good instructions on how to get the headliner out, but I understand it is just held in by clips. I have made a few attempts at this with no luck. I am very concerned about snapping a clip and then having the liner sag so I chicken out. Whatever you do, DON'T use a pressure washer to locate the leak. Just trickle water from the hose over one seal at a time. First the door, then the windshield and then the sunroof. Check for leaks after each by looking in thru the opposite door. I think you will not see water on the floor until you get to the sunroof. Thats my $1.02 aprilguy, you made the right purchase. You have a great car with a temporary leak is all. That's why Lexus is the Persuit of perfection. Check with the dealer or a custom/detailing shop and they should have you dry in no time. Good luck and enjoy.

  16. Hey Chaz, You were very smart to take it to the dealer and have it checked. I bought my 90 from a friend for six bucks and it had 120,000 on i and wish I had done that before I bought it. That was two years ago and I am still happy even though I have had a few issues such as suspension, power steering and AC. The AC is something they want a fortune to fix but it looks like I can buy a compressor pretty cheaply and I have 30lbs of R-12 in stock plus all the equipment available to repair it myself. Here I my suggestion for whatever it's worth. I would read every post on this site regarding the LS400. Once you are very knowledgeable on the problems and symptoms typical of this car, I would use something like autotrader.com and start looking. When you start going out and seeing what is available and the prices, you will be prepared and able to make a quality decision that won't lift too many $$ from your pocket. It is your money and I'm sure you worked very hard for it. Buy exactly what you really want. People are so full of BS about cars that you can't believe anything, so know it yourself first. Welcome to LOC. Our strength is the top quality people who frequent this site. We watch each others back. Denny
