  1. I’ve been doing a lot of research lately on purchasing a higher mileage LX470. I want something for my son and I to have fun with on the weekends, with the thought of him taking it over when he is 16 (6 more years). I live in VA and there are about a handful of decent 470’s around. I’ve locked into one that has 224k miles for 11,995. It’s a 2002. It has a clean CARFAX with all scheduled maintenance complete. The interior is in OK shape, probably need some reupholstering in some places. It also has a suspension coil conversation on it. I’ve been close on making the deal, until I found one on eBay that is only 120 miles away. I’m extremely new to auction buying or eBay itself, but the online dealer is top 10 on eBay, so I feel comfortable about it. I also can personally see it as well. This dealership finds old LX470s much like the one mentioned above, and refurbishes them. The car looks brand new. No blemishes on the interior or exterior. Rather impressive. Timing belt and fluids recently replaced. 1 owner and all maintenance records available. It’s a 2005 with 124k miles for $19,995. Should I go for the cheaper (2002) one knowing I have to do the timing belt and interior, or is it worth the extra 7k for peace of mind with the 2005.

  2. I was reading on how to install a dvd player in a headrest and every article suggested isolating the player with its own fuse. It seems the fuse you seek is the one that powers the entire infotainment system and not an individual player itself. https://fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-gx470-j120-2002-2009-fuses ^^ The diagrams

  6. problem solved after 3 weeks of on and off diagnostic. it was the crank sensor that failed and this was very difficult problem to diagnose because the crank sensor did work " to a degree ". previous owner sold me this car for 1200 with only 89k miles because 4 or 5 shops that she took this ES300 to couldn't figure out the problem including 2 Lexus dealerships and 1 of them even suggested a new/rebuild motor because they thought somehow, the compression loss after engine warm up while running. I've been turning wrench as a master tech since 2001 and never encountered this problem before. not sure as to unique problem, only for Toyota or not but it was hard problem for sure. if you want details of how and what way the sensor failed or any questions about leading up to my findings, let me know.

  8. While looking for other info I found this. It's the paint codes for 2nd generation GS models. This site has photos of cars those colors http://importarchive.com/lexus/gs/1998-2005/paint I'm considering having all of my chrome and the peeling trim on the roof painted graphite gray.
