  1. I have a 2008 RX400h. The HID lamp went dead and I tried replacing it. The replacement did not work, so I assume maybe the ballast is bad. I figured I might as well replace the entire assembly, since I also get condensation during the Summer months. During the winter the condensation clears up. Well, the Dealer wants about $1700 to replace the entire thing. Does anyone know where I can buy a cheap HID headlamp assembly and I can have my mechanic do the replacement for labor cost. Also, another option would be to install the Halogen assembly. I see I can get that one about $120 vs $5-900 for the HID AFS Assemblies. I dont need the HID or the AFS feature. Does anyone know if I can put a normal Headlamp assembly into a car with the HID and AFS option. The dealer said no, thinking the wiring would be different, but I used to work for an Automotive supplier and they normally make all the wire harnesses exactly the same. So they don't have to know what options are going into the car later. Thanks, Anthony

  2. We are at roughly 160,000 miles on the 2000 RX300. We replaced 2 of the ignition coils with Lexus dealer parts about 18 months ago, and today I think another one failed based on the symptoms. I'm about to take it to get the codes read to verify. Engine runs and car is drivable, but it runs really rough at idle with transmission in drive, and runs rough on acceleration. If you step on the gas lightly it is ok but obviously that means it takes awhile to get up to speed. This is exactly what happened last time. Assuming the bad cylinder is not one that we replaced already, should I just go ahead and replace the other 4 now? I deploy with the military and need a reliable vehicle for my wife while I am gone. If this is a case of one going indicating the rest will soon follow, I'd rather spend the extra money on parts now while I can do this myself than pay 2-3 times as much a year from now when my wife takes it to a shop.

  3. I am rebuilding a 2010 Toyota Prius with damaged front. I cannot find odometer PCB to correct the mileage. I have a Digimaster 3, but I cannot locate the odometer chip with its motherboard. Does anyone know where to locate that device? Also, what is the proper chip for that car, is it 93C66 or 93C86? The original chip must have been destroyed therefore I have no reference.

  4. I recently traded in my 3 year old 450h because of salt corrosion. I live diectly on the beach in Florida. I would like to find out if there are methods to prevent salt corrosion to a vehicle undercarriage that is typically parked out doors on the coast. 3 years for a Lexus lifetime is not enough!
