Customizations! Anyone Know Of Any?

Recommended Posts

Greetings All,

Took delivery of the vehicle over da week and still figuring out the vehicle. =)

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the annoying door ajar warning. I cant see the purpose of it beeping once you turned the engine off and are about to leave the vehicle.

Also, if anyone also knows of other customizations available, please post!

The only one I know so far is the seatbelt alarm warning – which can be turned off…

Otherwise – love the car!

by customizations, do you mean turn things off that are annoying?

or else...

look through the lexus website, or it may be in your manual, and there are what lexus calls "personalization" options that you can tell your dealer to change for free. on the lexus website, find the owners section and you have to make an account.

Here is an example to turn off the seat belt warning:

1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake

2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )

3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position

4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.

5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)

6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.

7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.

8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off

the backup camera can be turn on via a hardware hack. I know its possible because i can do it on my RX, though it has a different generation nav than what you have. SOmehow, you have to get into the diagnostic menu, so if anyone on this sight knows how to do so on GEN 5 navi.

VDIM is a kind of vehical stability control, but i think its only available on the IS350. Its like an extra traction control

Hey, is there a way to turn off the seat belt warning on a 2006 IS 350? Since we don't have an ignition switch, this process won't work. We just have a start button. Let me know if you know of a way... thanks

Yea just ignore the turn the key and press the button instead.

=)

I did it on the new IS250 it works.

:chairshot:

When I read the post, I thought it was a joke at first (I am a suspicious person by nature <_<) , because it seemed ridiculously complex. But I also tried it last night and it did indeed work.

The warning lights still work, but the accerlating beeping thing that it used to do is gone. We always wear our seatbelts, but when I'm driving and my wife would hop out of the car to get the mail, that beeping noise would drive me nuts.
