Its very frustrating. Nobody seems to have a decent 16" aftermarket wheel. I ordered a set that I liked from my local tire shop only

to find that they would not fit due to the large front caliper. The tire salesman was frustrated too. They were direct from American Racing as he had

called them for a recommendation. We are coming up dry in about all brands for 16".

So, looks like I may have to go with 17" wheels. More variety. Its just that I would like to keep it pretty close to stock. Also going with Michelin Primacy MXV4's

as soon as I can find the wheels.

Any suggestions? I am wearing out the winter tires!

get 18" LS430 wheels.

Maybe try another shop if the salesman isn't smart enough to see the enormous front calipers???

Well, I know everyone was just dying to know how this saga ended.

I ended up with 17" Sport Tuning wheels with Michelins. Seems to handle and ride just as nice.

Heres a look:

I was searching for nice wheels when I got the car too. The IS300 first gen wheels work great! (small fender washer sized shim for the fronts was all it took and I still have the Lexus emblem so it looks stock to those that are not experts.

you used FENDER WASHERS instead of wheel spacers

and you're ALIVE?!

Wheels look fine.

But you definitely need more low with them.

THE general rule: LOWER before WHEELS so you don't look like a 4x4 ;)

My Lex now looks like a 4x4? I refuse to modify the suspension(ie:lower). Guess I will need to start

taking the off-road trails to work.

Washers , now that is funny but scary.

the LS 16's are the smallest possible ones made to fit an ls with large brakes even if it has the x factor clearance to fit the brakes.

I know from experiance that you cannot even fit tape stick on weights on the barrel of the 16's without jamming the brakes.

Even just an H&R/KYB Gr-2 set up would improve it a lot.

Quote,

"small fender washer sized shim for the fronts"

NOT fender washers. Fender washer SIZED shims; as in stand-off thickness.

It is the last time I use an analogy on here...

Maybe...but would'nt it mess up the ride/handling? I'm pretty sure it would mess up my wallet.

Tanabe DF210 / KYB Gr-2 setup.

Lowers almost 2" and is VERY close to stock ride comfort. Almost Identical.

Springs ~$230, Struts ~$85@ (IIRC), Install+Alignment ~$250
