  2. Just by chance, is the red light on the fob on continuous? My initial guess is that one of the buttons is stuck continuously. Lots of ways that can be wrong because if it was then the stuck button feature would most likely activate when you get close to the car. I get the impression that is not an issue. I doubt its a battery issue because you have gone through so many. Do you have a second fob? If so try it. I have never heard of an "immobilizer" issue that could cause such an issue, but if more that one fob is affected you might have to conclude that your issue is external. My long shot guess is that you have some trash in the fob causing a power short inside. But again, I doubt that because you would have addressed that after changing the battery a couple of times or the fob would just would quit working altogether. And lastly, if you keep your keys in your pocket or purse(?), could it be causing the fob to activate. Im just trying to hit all the possibilities. Most likely is that you just have a defective fob. Let us know if you find out something that would help others. Paul
  3. Is anyone providing repair services for the audio and nav motorized door assembly? I am waiting to install my replacement Mark Levinson stereo because I dont want to have to pull it back out again. Thanks for any assist. Psul
  4. There are too many possibilities to speculate which is why you need a trained tech with appropriate equipment to diagnose. If I had to guess, the problem might be a defective spark plug coil. But a defective engine or transmission mount could cause a similar vibration.
  5. Hello, has anyone experienced very rapid battery drain on Lexus remote key/fob before? The battery on my remote key/fob expires every 10 - 12 days and i've gone through more than 10 batteries in the last 3 months. I've heard that i may need to replace the remote. But I'll like other opinions. I wouldn't want to buy a new remote key/fob is the old one can simply be fixed and sorted out. Thanks in advance of your feedback.
  6. Hi, i am new on the forum. i'm hoping to get some help/guidance with a challenge with my ES350 2008 model year. 3 weeks ago , my car suddenly came up with this 'fault message' on its dash - 'Low Engine Oil Level Indicator '.. i had done an Oil replacement in April. i also checked my oil level as soon as I saw this , and the Oil level is okay - well gauged. I've checked every other day just to make double sure and its always gauged and on the right level. The alarm/notice clears after a few minutes of driving, But continues to come and go every other day until the last 4 days where it seems to have worsened and become pretty regular/ more frequent. Today i've noticed that the light and fault message has been steady. It hasn't cleared for a minute. My Oil level is still okay, not short at all. Has anyone experienced this? Any idea of what this could be and how it can be resolved? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  9. What did you end up buying?
  10. I own the same car, and avoid pushing hard on the pedal, do most accel. in 3rd. gear. this is a known problem and cleaning the fuel system is not needed. I accelerate using the cruise lever often, and know there is lots of power at 3200rpm.!
  11. ATF fluid levels are checked after going through all the gears. I have lexus ES330, and have done 5 drain and fills in 135K miles on this car. Just did it on our Rav4 with the WS fluid and I drove some on a 90 degree day, and the fluid was above the upper limit, perfect. 3.5-3.6 qts. is what came out. good job on your flush!
  12. This worked for my 1998 Lexus LS 400. I too had tried various alternative steps similar- this is the only one that worked. Just a note- i had one ignition key, one valet key. Ignition key Does Not have battery. I have no lock/unlock fobs. Was able to reprogram ignition key. I left valet key in house while doing this because some forums said having two chipped keys close together could mess up programming. Also- i did not open or shut any doors during the process- other than manually unlocking driver's door at the start. I didnt do it because i didnt realize directions said to leave drivers door ajar til the end. Despite having drivers door closed the entire time it still worked. O Hooray! My car's been dead in the water for 3 months- now she's back! & running fine as ever! 😉
  13. Hi Everybody, This is Kay- posted my query in April '19. It is now July 19 & I finally finally have a Solution! Yay! So for anybody else who may have this trouble.... In my 1998 Lexus LS400 which I bought used, I have one valet key & one ugnition key. (i kno, i kno- need to get more keys.) In any case the ignition key stopped working with the security system- so the steering column wouldnt unlock with key in ignition. But then again- abt once every 30 tries, it would. There are not batteries in these keys, they dont have lock/unlock fobs. Very basic keys with very basic chips. This is what worked- HUGE, HUGE Thanks to Tyler of OReilly auto parts, in Pollock Pines, CA!!!

  17. you said you dont have to remove the EGR, but in one of your pics i see it taken off from the upper EGR two bolts. Do you just have to remove the bolts to make it loose?
  18. 2003 ES300 - The passenger side light on the trunk is not lighting and indicator on dash shows it is not working. I found the replacement bulb (7440 single filament) but have no idea of how to remove trunk liner for access to the bulb. Trunk liner seems to be held in place with plastic push pins and I don't want to break any. Any advice will be appreciated.
  19. OK. I'm pretty famous around my household for saying I usually screw up everything the first time I do it. And my power antenna for my 02 SC430 is no exception. I had to take it apart to get the broken cable out and made the mistake of getting curious. So I pulled out the gears. That was my first mistake. Second was pulling the motor. That was the final mistake because the motor is not self contained. The brushes popped out and to make a long story shorter, it was effectively destroyed. Now I said that was my final mistake. Well really, my final mistake was throwing the actual power antenna away out of disgust that Toyota/Lexus Engineers who would make such a stupid design. I kept the antenna switch assy which was good. But without the antenna motor, I was unable to blank off the hole in the fender. So, what I "really" want is the Aluminum pipe that goes through the fender since I have already mounted an amplified antenna to replace the Lexus $700+ stock power antenna. Anybody know of one available? Thanks. Below is a pic of the amplified antenna I mounted in the middle of the short glass to replace the stock unit. Sorry about the quality of the night time picture. Best I could do to get this out. Total cost of the new antenna was something like $33.00 and takes about 2 hours if you have never done it before.

  21. I have same issue, they key won't even open the trunk. The only way we can open is the emergency latch by sticking broom handle through the console hole in back seat.
  22. Anyone done the addition of an aftermarket automatic power rear lift gate mod? Product recommendations and experiences please. Thanks.
  23. I dont buy new cars. Why? They are ridiculously expensive here in California due to high taxes, high registration fees and high insurance cost. And then top it off with the fact that I seem to put close to 30,000 miles on a car in a single year, and you get the point. So, I buy quality used cars with good maintenance history records from private sellers who dont know all the tricks that maybe a less scrupulous dealer might know. My latest is a low mileage 2002 SC430. Beautiful car. But as with all older cars there is always something. Today it was my roof not retracting. Its an intermittent problem too which makes it worse because you know it will never fail for the dealer. But, I own an iCarsoft i905 Multi-System Scanner and it has all the features I needed for this car to let me know that I have a B2502 DTC and that code says that I have an open in Roof Drive Motor RH Circuit. The hard top system has no less than ten individual motors, three ECU's, twelve switches and all of this has to work flawlessly. Troubleshooting a single problem like this becomes prohibitively expensive very quickly. But if you have your own scanner that has the right software for your car, problems like these suddenly become not so terrifying. Is my B2502 going to be a problem to fix? Yes, I'm sure it will have its challenges. But without a scanner, I wouldn't even know where to start or what to tell my mechanic. Think about it and then buy yourself one. It doesn't have to be the i905, its just what I own. But it should definately be a tool in your box. Paul
