Are the 2022 RX350’s using synthetic oil nowadays?(not an owner yet)

Yes! They have been using synthetic for 10 years: SAE 0W-16 is now mandatory.

That's 0W-20.  No such thing as 0W-16.

My 2022 NX 350 Operator's Manual states the following:

Quote: "SAE 0W-16 is the best choice for good fuel economy and good starting in cold wheather. If SAE 0W-16 is not available, you may use 0w-20.  

However, it must be replaced with SAE 0W-16 at the next oil change".

The RX line still require the 0W-20, from what you said.  Thanks for looking that up..

I stand corrected.  There is 0W-16 oil.  Must have the consistency of water.  I guess next to come out will be 0W-0.

Castrol Edge 0W-16 Advanced Full Synthetic oil is 62 dollars a six-pack on Amazon. But only the hybrid NX uses it for now.  Their Turbo's use the 0W-20.

But pity the engine designer that has to specify / spec an engine oil that will crank an engine at 50 below zero in Fairbanks, Ak and still maintain oil pressure sitting is afternoon rush hour traffic at 118 degrees in the shade (Las Vegas).
