Noise

First time - and thanks for the opportunity. Lexus 400, 2000, has a noise from about 30 MPH that is a level above the tires hitting the pavement. Those of you that have lived in an old house, that could hear the wind howling, this is somewhat the noise I hear, however the decible level and velocity is constant, and does not vary with speed. Silly, but if musical terms could be applied, the tires hitting the road being "soprano", the noise I hear would be a close, "alto."

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Lon

Let's see ...........

Do you think it "is" the tires or something unrelated to the tires?

If so ..........

Make and model of tires?

Cold air pressure?

Any unususal wear patterns?

If not .......... more clues please?

Since I can hear tire noise, I think this is in some way related to air flow, or some moving part noise, being transferred, to audible, and giving the sound of air flow.

Tires are new, (experienced same noise with old set) and cold air pressure is 32.

Thanks.

Are the new tires the same brand as the old? Has the car always

made the noise? If its a wind noise then it could be a bad door or window

seal. There are tricks in locating bad seals. If its always been there then

maybe your just more sensitive to the sound than others. For instance

I find the road noise on my 93 LS excessive but most others don't notice it.
