madiro Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) Lexus Toyota Dealer said AFS system on my 2005 Lexus LS 430 is no longer available. Is there anyway to disconnect AFS and still have headlights? My battery (new ,month old) is draining while sitting after 3-4 days. Seems to be related to AFS system malfunction. Any suggestions? thanks, Edited February 6, 2022 by madiro
RX400h Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Is the AFS light in the dash flashing? If it is, this type of sensor may be the problem. Is it the type (different car shown but the speaker says most are similar.) that is supposedly not available?
madiro Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Hey Dave (?) Thanks for your response to my AFS issue. A concern of the flashing AFS is the unusual battery charge draining at the same time. Since there has been no reports (from dealership or Lexus Club members) of a direct correlation, such as the AFS unit causing a short circuit, I’ll investigate other possibilities of battery discharge. Thanks again for posting the tutorials, they are very helpful. Sincerely, Madiro
Tarheel7472 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 I’d like to piggyback on this issue if OK with others. My AFS is not working, I.e., the headlights do not move when turning. How to fix please! Thanks!
John ADAM Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 The non-dealer repair shop quoted a price of about $1300 to fix the headlights rotating motor etc. So, I decided to live with headlights that work but do not turn (like it is in most other cars) and removed the AFS fuse from the fuse box. The AFS flashing light from the dash board disappeared after I removed the fuse. This was about 2-3 years ago.
