Nimbler Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 In the last 2 1/2 months (about 2000 miles) my 2014 with 92000 miles ES 300h has used about a quart of oil. There are no visible leaks, it runs well I’ve never noticed any smoke coming from the exhaust. Is this normal in a hybrid because of all the starting and stopping of the engine? help please!
Geer Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I also have an 2014 ES300h that burns about the same amount of oil. My car however has 352k on the odometer. Looks, runs and drives great except I am now getting engine codes. I have replaced the PCV valve, plugs (2x), replaced catalytic converter and cleaned the throttle body. My trouble codes still persist and I’m afraid it won’t pass inspection. I realize the true cause of this problem is the rings are bad but looking for a solution before I pay for a new engine/rebuild. Would an engine flush open up the rings and allow less oil burning? Any solutions appreciated.
Les Lex 2018 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Sounds like you definitely got your moneys worth out of that thing. How is the drive battery holding out? Lithium or Metal Hydride? What was your last summer, city MPG? With the Lithium, I'm getting ~43 MPG city, steady summer conditions. Winter is down in the mid 30s.

How often do you change your oil?
Geer Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I bought my ES300h used with 82k on the odo. Funny, but back then I was worried about the high miles. So most of those miles are mine. I try and change the oil every 3000 but sometimes can’t get to it till around 5000. When the car was new to me it didn’t burn a drop and I got lazy checking it. One day oil dropped so low the idiot light came on then it was too late and it burns a little more everyday I guess. Going for 500k sill. 1

Replaced the original battery at 300k with oem Lithium pack. I get a little lower mileage. Around 38-40 summer and low-mid 30’s winter, although mileage has dipped after switching to Continental from Perrelli tires this year. 1 1
Les Lex 2018 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Still not bad MPG for a a 10 year old engine with hi milage. I replaced the OEM Bridgestone truanza tires with MICHELIN PRIMACY TOUR A/S. I expected the mpg to go down, but it stayed the same. Thanks!
