Gs400 Has Interference Or Non-interference Engine?

Hi all,

Just wondering if a GS400 V8 is an interference or non-interference engine. My car just hit 60k and wondering if it's really necessary to replace at this time. Would appreciate feedback! Thanks in advance!!!

what is the recomended change time

From what I recall I think it mentioned replacement of timing belt at 90 or 100k miles on the maintenace booklet. But saw some posting by other GS owners doing it at 60k. So I would like to know when did you guys change the belt? Thanks!!!

I believe it is an interference engine, but I'll have to find out.

That engine changed when the VVTi was added in 98, I forget which way it changed.

Found out yesterday from the dealership that timing belt replacement is performed at 90k!!!

This is correct. I have a service manual for my GS430 and it does state that the timing belt should be chaged at 90k or if the belt show hard ware it should be done sooner then that.
