sgriffith Posted April 28, 2004 Share Posted April 28, 2004 I am getting about 19 MPG on my 99 RX300...about 76,000 miles....98% of the miles are highway. I use regular unleaded, have recently changed the spark plugs & air filter. Is this about what everyone else is getting...better or worse? Is there anything that I can do to get a little better gas mileage? When we got it it was getting around 21 - 23 MPG but has dropped off in the past year or so. Thanks in advance for the advice! douglasmiami Posted April 28, 2004 Share Posted April 28, 2004 I'd be interested in hearing more on this. I have a '99 RX 300 as well and according to my Info screen, I'm getting, at best, 15 MPG. PharmGuy Posted April 30, 2004 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Ok, I'm in the middle of you guys. I've got a 2001 RX with almost 60K (had them do my 60K service before I bought it). I'm getting about 18mpg but most of my driving in local. And yes, Doug, you should see somewhat of a boost in your mileage after they replace the O2 sensors. Maybe not a lot, but some at least. The other thing that might be interesting is your quality of gasoline. I don't use high-octane, but I do use either Mobil, or Sunoco, or one of those v.s. an off-brand. Tried using one of those cheaper brands, and unfortunately it only took a tank or so, I found my climb over the local mountain seemed less energetic. With higher prices, I switched to 87 and routinely got 1.5 to 2 mpg less than with 92. Performance suffers as well. Unfortunately, I think when I ran a couple of tanks of 93 octane, I didn't give it enough time to change. But, certainly, thanxs for the imput.
