I have a 92 ls400 with about 290k on the engine. Just recently while trying to fix some fans apparently the computer fried and not its not running the dealer said I can do a complete engine swap or look for the harnessing and replace it all.. Has anyone had to do this? What would be the best way to go about getting it up and going again

Hi Ben...welcome to the Club!

A bit confused by the 'computer fried' since fitting fans...what actually occurred?

Cheers,  Trevor

Hi and thank you. I was fixing a hose and noticed the front fan was not working so I removed the fan. Since I did that the car would try to start but no luck in actually getting it going. I took it to a mechanic and he said that being that I had the car on when messing with the fans it fried the computer/wiring harness?

Very unlikely that would occur as the fans would run through a fuse which will just blow if you short circuit the system.

More than likely, you may have dislodged a sensor. I would look in the area you were working in and see if there is any wiring or connectors going to any sensors on the engine, in particular the Crankshaft Sensor.

I actually replaced the crankshaft sensor after the car stopped starting and didn't seem to effect it.the car won't run but it turns on still, windows radio etc still function .. should I take it to another mechanic? It's the ecu that he was saying was out. And being on a tight budget when I looked online I found some cheap ones are they easy to install?

I remember looking at the vehicle. The ECU is damaged from being shorted to power on it's ground. The ECU needs to be replaced, or disassembled and repaired by a professional technology company ....

This is what the mechanic sent me so maybe im wording things wrong but anyhow ...do you have any idea what a fix like this would range around and whats easiest way to go about getting it fixed?

If it's a case of another ECU it will have to be coded into the car and probably the best thing is to get your own one rebuilt and therefore no need to recode

My engine wiring harness is pretty much shot, the wires are brittle, and the connectors are breaking from wear and tear.  I've searched around a bit on Google with little luck so I'm seeing if anyone knows of a company, website, person that does complete engine wiring harnesses for a decent price for a 1994 Lexus ES300.  I can't even seem to find them at the junkyards around me.

if money was not a problem, what is the biggest GM LS engine that could be swaped into a 1993 sc400?
      engine LS1-LS9
also if money is not a problem what is the strongest v8 engine that could be fit into a sc400my goal isnt to make th fastest or most poweful sc400, my goal is to do something that has never been done before to an sc400
i chose the LS engines because i love the corvette engine alot and i love the sc400 so please dont say this is a waste of money or the ls engines are bad.
if you can help me that would be great and if not then still thank for very much
