Truck Charge

Recommended Posts

Hi folks.

I just got myself an Electric Golf trolley ( Getting old ) that has a rechargeable battery.

Normally you take the battery out and charge it in your house or garage etc.

What I want to do is keep the golf trolley in my car and charge it in place. For a power point I intended running a cable from the power point that is under the front arm rest.

What I'd like to know, is there a closer point I can run the cable from? Obviously this must power down when the ignition is off.

Before anyone suggests I shouldn't as this might be dangerous. I'm an electronics engineer and know how to make this safe.

The power requirements are 12v and 3A.

Hi Jon...welcome to the Club

I wonder how many amps the boot light circuit could optimistically supply without compromising any wiring or fuses, etc.

If not, I've used a cigar lighter extension lead (fused) to extend into the boot for a coolbox.

Let us know how you get on

Cheers,   Trevor

Thanks Trevor, but unfortunately the lights can stay on when the ignition is off. This could leed to discharge.

I'll post a solution once, and if, I get one.
