'04 Es @ 90k, Now What?

My ES just turned 90K miles and I'm a bit confused as to what is necessary service? I change oil & filter regularly and have had normal wear items repaired/replaced ie Brakes, Wipers, tires, etc. Replaced the alternator last year. Thats it, nothing else..

My concerns are Tranny fluid!

Should it be replaced? I'm well past the DIY stage of my life so have to go to a repair shop. What is recommended buy the masses?

Changing the transmission fluid is not in the regular maintenance schedule although it is sometimes specified for some models when the vehicle is used under "special operating conditions" such as trailer towing, especially poor roads and commercial use.

I would probably change the transmission fluid at 90,000 miles even if it was not mandated since it is cheap to have done and I tend to practice "overkill" on transmissions and differentials. It kind of bothers me that newer vehicles made by Toyota do not have transmission dipsticks - no longer possible to check the fluid level of newer automatic transmissions.

I had the timing belt and waterpump done on my 04ES at about 90,000. I also had all the fluids (except oil) changed. Transmission, power steering, brake fluid and coolant. Had it done at a Toyota dealership for about $800

Florida heat tells me you should flush out that old fluid and change the tranny filter, but don`t go to Lexus to pay through the nose. A good independent mechanic can do the job for you for dollars less.

Thanks for the feedback everyone I have a local Lexus specialist car repair shop and I will check with and perhaps I can get my full 90,000 mile service done at a reasonable price

My Lexus dealer and Toyota dealer are owned by the same family and are located side by side so it probably wouldn't pay me to go to the Toyota dealer :(

Our local (exclusive) Lexus dealer also owns a Toyota dealership along with about every other brand. Luckily, there are 3 different local Toyota dealerships so those not associated with the Lexus dude, are very happy to work on a Lexus. About the same parts on most.
