Crossgolf Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Helly guys. I have the following problem: The car was in a small accident and the headlights now have broken taps. The AFS is not working on the righthand side headlight anymore and the left headlight has a small crack but is water tight. The "AFS OFF" light is blinking constantly in the dash no matter what I do with the small button. I would like to replace both headlights and I wouldn't mind to replace them with headlights without the AFS function. But I would have to turn off the AFS permanently to get rid of the blinking light in the dashbord. Is there anyway to do this?
maseace Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 See if there is a fuse for AFS in one of the fuse boxes and pull it.
Crossgolf Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 Thanks I will try to find one. Hope this does the trick.
maseace Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Fuse #64 under the dash is for AFS, but it also powers several other safety functions such as headlight levelers and vehicle dynamic control, so I would not recommend removing it.
1990LS400 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 There is an article on the IIHS website about the unexpected degree to which AFS is reducing property damage - something else to want on my next vehicle! http://www.iihs.org/iihs/news/desktopnews/crash-avoidance-features-reduce-crashes-insurance-claims-study-shows-autonomous-braking-and-adaptive-headlights-yield-biggest-benefits

Crossgolf Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 is there any other possibility? Maybe I could put a resistor on the plug. But I am not good with electronics and I don't know how to figure out the right resistort of if this even could work in the way I want it.
