Ticking Sound From The Engines

My new 2004 rx330 only has 8K miles on it after 10 months and I can hear a ticking sound from the engine. IT reminds me of the old diesel engine or a sawing machine. Dealer serv tech suggests that it came from the fuel injectors and lexus is working on rectifying this problem.

Any one hear the same noise from their rx-330 ?

I have the same issue and heard the same thing since last May.Apparently this is a carry over from the previouse model as well as the ES model.Good luck.........

BRO,,, the ticking is the fuel injectors!

they had to make the sping tension firm in the new injectors to make it a low emissions vehicle, and there is no fix,,,,, turn the radio up

Turn up the radio is really not a good way to avoid the problem. ;) I went to dealer this morning to have ECU replace and Cooler lines for clunk noise. I asked the dealer about the ticking noise. He told me there is no TSIB. Hopefully, it will be coming out soon.

wow, that's funny!,,, the only think lexus is working on it a new insulation

so you can't hear the tick noise. the perception is that there is a "problem",

not true. the injectors do operate properly. the issue is insulation.

the reason i chuccle is that i am the dealer and where i work

is one of the test sites where tsb's are made..hang in there cheif,

your in the 10% club, only 10% of all who own the ca complain of the noise

to begin with. i would'nt hold my breath waiting for this one!

If I need to turn up the radio to avoid the noises, why don't I just buy a cheap SUV with good stereo? Why should I spend 40+ to buy a car that I need to turn up the radio? If Lexus indicates their cars are quite, they should be. We are the car owners have a certain expection from Lexus. That's why we bought it. No one says there is a problem. If the injectors do operate properly, it should add insulation to avoid the noise.

I remembered when I had the clunking and groan noise while decelerating around 40-50mph around Jan this year. The diagnostic specialist told me that it might be related to AWD, it is operated normally, and I am the only one complians about this. On Feb 26th, 2004, Lexus releases the TSIB for the noise to replace tube oil cooler and bolt washer. Does that mean he lied to me?

Mr. Dealer. I also have one concern. Why do the car owners have to find the TSIBs ourselves from this forum or others? Why can they be informed by the dealers? I also noticed from other thread that the car owners told the service dealers about these TSIBs and the dealers claimed that they don't know anything about it. They try to avoid fixing and lie to customers?

I've been having this "ticking" sound problem for a while now and when I took it to the dealer about a month ago, I was told that I needed to use premium fuel. After using premium for a month and the noise still didn't go away, I went back to them and was told that now Lexus is aware of the problem and is coming up with a fix soon!

My comment to the dealer was that "if I wanted my car to sound like a diesel, I would have bought a diesel." So I guess we just need to hang on and see what happens next!

I have been used premium since I purchased the car. The noise is always there. Like I said, I wonder if the dealer really knows what they are talking about. Or just misleading the customers?
