You can get a cord for mine. Escort says you will get better reception with the cord. You guys just don't understand how anal I am about my car. I don't want an ugly cord running all up and over my dash.

I just took my car in for its 20k checkup. I made a sign and put it on my dash. Please do not wash inside or out. I don't want anybody messing with my pretty girl......Er reindeer.

Maybe title of this thread should include words Radar Detector.

It has become a useful thread with feedback on this topic from actual users.

That would make too much sense. I am a blond you know?!?!?

Ooh! The sun just came out. I'm going to go wash my girl. L8RDUDE

Imagine that!

Doing something useful. Not much sun here in Boston, just a lot of rain. Think I'll head over to Syracuse tomorrow and check out the snow. That will give me something useful to do. That way I can give a winter report on the MassPike and Thruway.

Post some pics.

Sunday we are supposed to get in the 60s. Might get a little top down time.

Observation......it is hard to dry a car when it's cold.

Denny, don't be a smat azz. I'll come up there and put antlers, a nose AND big eyelashes on your car.

Posted

Ahhh, no. Not possible since you'd have to put them on the Silverado and you'd need a step stool to reach. You certainly don't think I'd drive my car anywhere near snow do you? It is in the garage in VB.

I dry the car with a California Water Blade, then my Toro 310mph leaf blower.

Posted

I thought about that. I actually had the leaf blower out to get the leaves out of the garage. I was tracking them into the house and my car. Crunched up leaves on black floor mats are not a pretty sight.

I use an Absorber. Works great when it is warm, not when it is 43 degrees. I might get one of those blades. Maybe Santa will bring Lexie one.

In the event you decide to use the blower, it's a good idea to put some electrical, adhesive, or even painters tape on the tip of the blower. Not that you would accidently hit your car but say the cord caught and yanked it into your paint. Learned that the old way.

Just ordered another gift to self. I got an email from Zaino this morning. I didn't realize that they had come up with a one step car polish. Ordered one of those and I'm going to try their glass polish. Hopefully it will help with the film on my windshield. I also have acid rain etching on my back glass. Yippee!

Posted

try rain x on your glass, it really works also....

Posted

I used Windex and a straight edge razor blade to remove the deposits on the glass. The ES330 had water etching all over. Took me forever to get it off. Used a ton of elbow grease to clean the paint.

Posted

Lex, it's from the rain. Mostly on the back glass. I never have a problem on my paint because I keep such a good coating of wax.

Denny, I'll let you know how this works. Everything I have ever gotten from Zaino was awesome.

Once I took my S2000 to the casino and parked it overnight. I parked way out like I always do, but didn't think about the sprinkler system coming on and hitting it. They must just pump that water straight out of the Mississippi river because it etched spots on that car that NOTHING would remove. I tried everything. Clay bar, scratch remover, abrasive wax......nothing removed it. I was sick. Of course, only I could see it.

Posted

you are correct. Really hard water, especially from sprinklers will etch the surfaces and nothing will completely remove. Almost as bad (but no quite) as pine tree sap.

I'm already sick of seeing snow.

Posted

Around here we fear certain bird !Removed! (and its ability to permanently etch clearcoat if left on paint too long), nasty.

But yes sprinkler water can cause damage here too.

Posted

I like snow for about 2 hours.

You know why bird !Removed! is so bad for paint? They don't have a digestive system, just acid that devolves the food. It is acid.

Living near the coast we have a boatload of nasty seagulls. Yes they look cute in those kids movies but make no mistake about seagulls, they are nasty things. We also have egrets which are even nastier. Should a rogue deposit land o your vehicle you will swear there are flying elephants.
