I am looking on buying a 300.. i cannot seem to find any performace specs. I would like to know what type engine, BHP, 0-60

any other sepcs would be great or to a link where i can find uot more info

An SC300 is definetly a good choice. The 2JZ GE motor that comes in it is the same motor that comes in the standard MKIV Toyota Supra. It's just like the 2JZ GTE except without the Turbo. Which isn't a big deal anyway, because if you want a Turbo all you do is bolt it on and it works without having to perform any other modifications first. The SC300 has so much potential, they are great stock, but are very easy to fix up. Several Supra parts that can be found at very low prices at junk yards will work in your SC300. Just adding a Turbo and an intake can boost your HP from 225 to just around 400 HP- that's not to bad.

You are correct. But it is not as simple as just bolting the turbos from the supra on there. The heads and manifolds are different. So a head and computer swap are required as well. A single turbo conversion would be easier. Otherwise - dead on.

1992 SC300 5-Spd (I'm guessing it's a 92 because I see no passenger airbag)

Car & Driver: (Note: C&D states 1st gear is 2.29:1 with a top speed of 50mph @ 6500 rpm. My 92 sc goes only to ~35mph in first gear)

Standing start Acceleration (seconds)

0-30: 2.2

-40: 3.7

-50: 5.1

-60: 6.8 !!!

-70: 9.4

-80: 11.9

-90: 15.4

-100: 19.3

-110: 24.1

-120: 34.7

-130: 48.0

Street Start (5-60mph): 7.4 sec; 30-50 top gear: 9.4; 50-70 top gear: 10.1

1/4 mile: 15.4 @ 90mph Top speed 139 mph

Braking: 70-0: 175 ft. No brake fade.

Handling: Lateral acceleration, 300 ft dia. skidpad: 0.85g; minimal understeer.

Interior Sound Level:

Idle: 40 dBA; Full throttle: 77dBA; 70 mph crusing and coasting: 69dBA

Coast-Down Measurements (this is interesting, must look into more)

Sorry I'm sure this has been brought up 100 times before, but I didn't see anything about it yet. BTW, I just bought a '92 SC400, this is my 8th Toyota, after two old RWD celicas, an '85 MR2, an '89 MR2SC (for sale), an '87 Camry beater, and my current daily driver, a '92 Camry (with 409,000 km, for sale).

Just out of curiosity, what are the best bang for your buck initial upgrades? It's already got kumho ecsta supras on 17" GS400 rims, but i'm looking at the first couple performance mods. Is the torque converter really worth upgrading? I've read it's one of the first real upgrades....

One more question, I'm a previous W58 owner and lover, and since the 2JZ uses the same auto tranny as the 1UZ, could the W58 not bolt up to the 1UZ??? I know I'd likely need the driveshaft from the SC300, but still it'd really wake up the car methinks.

I have a question. First off im planning on purchasing an SC-300 in the near future and am planning to turbocharge it. I currently have a turbo volvo but the volvos are giving me too much trouble and im tierd of them. baiscally im looking for a nice reliable RWD manual car

but anyway heres my question, how do people turbo these I-6 engines, the same ones that are in NA supras?, with such a high compression ratio???? 10.0:1?

i do know that to turbo charge an engien you would need a pretty low compression engine, somethign like under 9's. my volvos have a 8.7:1 or somewhere in the 8's i cant remember right now off the top of my head. I looked online for turbo kits for SC-300's and they go for like 4-5 g's. taht seams almost reasonable considering that u get all brand new parts. BUT they dont address the compression ratio. soo... my question is what do you guys to about this? do you just keep it? can the engine handle a turbo with im guessin at least 10 psi with such a high pressured pistons?

bubbles did I read you right that their was over 5 mph in slalom speed from the 95 to the 98? The 98 got much faster due to the motor but what happened to the suspension?

some newer specs on a 1jz-with vvt-i from 97+ taken from HyperRev.

compared to the older 1jz

single turbo (still ceramic turbin shaft)

vvt-i (of course)

compression ratio: 9.0

same displacement, bore and stroke.

output: 280ps@6200rpm

38.5kgm/2800rpm

the biggest difference here, i think is the torque a slight gain of 1.5kgm from the eariler 1jz but max torque is reached 2400rpm's earlier.

I just purchased a used one not too long ago, 1993 SC 300, 225HP, 3.0 liter engine, 7.4 0-60 time. The SC 400 has 4.0 liter engine with 250HP. The odd thing about these cars is that they both get the same gas mileage whether it be auto or manual (gets better gas mileage). The key will set you back if you have the lock unlock kind on the actual key ($290.00 US).

hello,

i just bought my sc300 about 6 mths ago from my friends mom and im loving the car. My only irke is that coming from a line of past DSM's, integra, civic, and a celica, my affiction for a manual transmission should be clear. I was wondering if it would be worth swithing the tranny out of my sc and if there is any 6spd's out that anyone would know about? Maybe HKS or even TRD? I would be in heaven if someone told me that there is a kit that lets the tremec T-56 bolt on, to handle all the future horespower... Or if maybe just upgrading the torque conv or a shift kit for the old 4 sp auto would be better. Oh and if anyone has a clue about pricing, that would be wonderful considering i now have a fiance with a copy of my credit cards...ouch. Thanks a mil
