04 Gs 300 Stereo Not Working

I have a 2004 GS300. The stereo displays lights up and works but there is no sound. The display will allow all controls to function except for the the sound from the stereo. I found the 30 amp stereo fuse (#40) blown and tried to replace it. The new fuse immediately blew. Any ideas what may cause this.
