After replaced starter on my 99 LS400, I found that coolant dropped down fast., a problem I have never experienced before. I just had a 450-mile highway trip after replacement so I strongly suspect this issue comes from the repair so I intend to go to repair shop tomorrow. What may cause such fast consumption of coolant?

There are a few coolant hoses that run under the intake manifold. They may not have been put back together right or you could have air in the system. Follow the directions on your reservoir and bleed the air out. Unless of course you smell coolant you definitely have a leak. Mine kept going down and I followed all the directions on the coolant reservoir cuz mine kept going down every day too and now it stays full and doesn't move even when my foot gets heavy and I do triple digits. Good luck let us know if you smell coolant and if not I will help walk you through the process to bleed the air out.

Please increase your font. Do you mean the level in the reservoir has dropped considerably? How much coolant did you loose when removing the hoses and rear coolant bridge when you changed the starter? Depending on how much that could be your coolant loss right there if you did not top it back up.

Sounds like the OP had a repair shop do the work and he is taking it back to them for a look.
