One of the great aspects of plastic headlight lenses, other than they are a lot harder to break than glass lenses, is that they can be easily and inexpensively restored to like new condition when they are worn to the point that they look like they are ruined and are putting out little light. If your lenses are looking worn, buy a restoration kit at an auto parts store.

The "cover" cannot be easily removed and replaced on the headlights. If there is oxidation on the outer surface of the lens, you can use rubbing compound (similar to these headlight restoration kits) to bring back the clarity. If there is moisture or "fog" on the inside however, you'll need to replace the headlight. I'd look for a used set on eBay.
