jvbe5823 Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 Just purchased a 2000 es300 in fort worth with 69k miles. Initial inspection said I need to replace the fuel filter, would like to do it myself but don't have the manual. Any help?
SKperformance Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 In urban areas a fuel filter is hardly ever going to be replace. In deep rural areas with older stations with rusty holding tanks it is going to be more nessacary to be replaced. The filter is about 2-3 inches across and 4 high so it is pretty big if i am remembering it right .It should be located along the firewall beside the brake booster. Just like any other filter has 2 ends to be released and replaced. I replaced mine on my 94 in 01 and i found almost nothing in there as there is a sump filter also which keeps sediment in the tank most of the time anyway.
Lexusfreak Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 Agreed, I replaced mine (according to the Lexus dealer there are 2 fuel filters, the other in in the gas tank but VERY rarely needs to be replaced) and it is a steel tubing & canister unit and is a fairly easy part to change for a mechanic. B)
