My RX 350 has had a very sensitive accelerator from the start position since new. Lexus looked at it once and said it was normal. I have an earlier RX 300 and it starts very smooth with no head jerk etc. any suggestions on problem or remedy? Thanks.

Have you driven other RX350's of the same year to see how they react to the gas pedal? That's where I would start.

I have driven various Lexus's including other 350's as a " loaner" when I took mine in for service, but have noticed no similar problems. My wife was out of commission for for over a year with surgeries, and when she started driving it again, she also complained about the aggressive jerk when pressing the accelerator. It can be controlled but does require attention each time. When a quick start is required, you are going to feel an uncomfortable jerk and very noticeable jerk.

Well then ... can you take your Lexus dealer and have your wife drive your RX350 and a dealer owned RX350 to compare the two in the presence of a dealer representative? If the problem is that bad, the dealer representative should be able to drive the dealer owned RX smoothly but will not be able to do that in your RX.

I was fortunate for know others who, for some years, had LS400's identical to mine. It made it easier to diagnose problems when we could compare our cars.

Now we're talking !! Comparisons, investigation and diagnosis !!

I have not expirenced this on a rx350 but , you could have your dealer

Give it a try . Clean the throttle plate of sticky carbon build up.

Then do a system re learn, of base idle.

Have them confirm this by looking at throttle angle percentage

From a loaner that works fine to you compared to your car before repairs .

When you tip into the throttle, the carbon has stuck the plate, you apply more throttle angle

Unknowingly , it releases suddenly, causing the aggressive response.

This is rare, mosty cold start and the first several throttle applications.

I like the fact that you have compared to a like model, you have

Requested the help from the right people, with the knowledge at your dealership

This is where trust begins and the reason you will return for future visits and

service work.
