TauSoHard73 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Have a '00 RX and looking for something newer. Found a great deal on an '06 IS with 81,000 miles on it. ^^ I know that is a lot of miles and I'm a little worried on how long the '06's last? Anybody wanna weigh in on this? Any response would be greatly appreciated!
1990LS400 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 At 82,000 miles a 2006 IS will explode in a volcanic cataclysm. Well ... not hardly. How's well is your RX lasting? An IS should do about the same if it has been taken care of in the past and will be taken care of in the future. Does this IS have a maintenance history you can verify? Can you tell if it has been raced or otherwise mistreated?
backwoods lex Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 The Lexus website has an option to enter the vin # and see any maintenance that has been done (only by Lexus I assume). Told me worlds about mine (TSBs being taken care of, ect.).
LEX-SV Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Agreed, knowing service history is good info. But these cars are known for above average reliability, refer to Consumers Reports reliability charts/tables to see.
snig Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 My 2008 was amazingly reliable. The motor oil always looked clean and never burned a drop of oil in between 5k mile oil changes
LEX-SV Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 My 2008 was amazingly reliable. The motor oil always looked clean and never burned a drop of oil in between 5k mile oil changes How many miles on it when you got rid of it?
reyoasian Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 although it still comes down to specific vehicles itself, you can expect 200,000+ miles if well taken care off just on clublexus a while ago, a member reported hitting 250,000 miles
ChrisIS200SportTTE Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 If maintained correctly any Lexus petrol engine should do 200,000+ miles :)
Tepbro326 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I have a 2006 IS 250 with 147,000 miles on it. Still going strong
LEX-SV Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Anybody else have high mileage IS250's and IS350's (over 100K miles)?
Deidre Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I have a 2006 IS 250 with 208,000 miles. Only thing I've replaced outside of normal (I.e. brakes, tires, oil changes) are axels. Great car!
LEX-SV Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Welcome Deidre to LOC. Thanks for posting that report on your high mileage 06 IS250, very impressive mega miles. Do you have a long commute that racks up the miles quickly?
jks2 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Just purchased an 06 with 100K. Car runs and drives like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Other than a few little paint chips and one tiny door ding, it looks like it just rolled out the door also.
LEX-SV Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 jks2 - Congrats on your new 06 IS250. Sounds like a nice example of an early 2nd generation IS.
Daniella Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I still have my '06 IS350 i just hit 125,000 miles still runs smooth and fast AF. :) I want to keep it for another 4-5 years at least until the 200,000 mile mark
Sonny1989 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I got a 08 is350 with 151000. This car does build carbon though, so from time to time u have to step on it to clear it out. But check the cars history of mentainance . Cause I got screwed and bought a lemon.... Got rear Axel's been replaced , front bushings, front shocks , etc shout 2500$.... So check wat u buy.
Mr. Clortho Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 '08 with 160k miles and she purrs like a kitten. I would drive it across the country without a 2nd thought. It should be noted that although it is expensive as hell, the car has strictly followed the maintenance schedule with the dealership from birth and it has been excellent.
