Should I Buy A Used 2000 Lexus Es300?

Recommended Posts

I am a 1994 Camry owner for the last nine years, with 210,000 miles on it. It has been a good car over the years, but has left me stranded a few times. So I understand that doing repairs and maintenance is key to maintaining reliability. I'm the type of person that will drive a car for ten years or more if it's reliable and safe.

I'm looking into buying a replacement for my Camry. My parents' friend's sister is selling her 2000 Lexus ES300 for $6,500.00

It has 100,000 miles on it, upgraded wheels and sound system, leather seats, V6, automatic, very clean, garage kept and it's in good condition. The owner recently had the air fuel sensor banks 1 & 2 replaced, new air induction hoses, front brakes resurfaced/brake rotors, new pads and new battery at 90,000 mile check-up. The mileage just went over 100,000. She gave us the name and number of her Lexus, assistant service manager to ask questions about the maintenance of her car. I intend to call him, but I'm not sure what to ask him. If you have suggestions that would be helpful.

Questions:

1. Is this a good deal?

2. How many more years or miles can I get out of this car?

3. Are the repairs and maintenance costs going to kill me? I am used to my Camry costs. My mechanic says, YES.

4. Why didn't she have the timing belt replaced at 90,000 miles? I'll ask the Lexus service manager about that...

5. What should I ask the service manager?

Thanks for your advice. P.S. I'm attaching a photo of the car.
